I'd take him ahead of Arteta certainly but he's a massive risk no two ways about it. "Proven winner as a player" when he's played his whole nine year career in Australia is definitely the Aussie speaking 😆

I don't want a big name necessarily, I'd like someone in charge who's proven he can manage at this level. There are loads of coaches across Europe who have and who are worth a shot, don't think it's a good idea to look just for a big name or completely left field appointment.

Ange would be a risk. How many managers come from the SPL and actually look as good? Would we want Gerrard? He's been pretty poor at Villa despite doing a good job at Rangers. Not saying Ange can't do it, he certainly plays attractive football which is a big plus but I think I'd want to see him do it in a big league first.

I don't know mate, after four completely wasted years I think we should go for the safe bet, a high end manager, one of the best in the world.

Still, if going for a true up-and-coming coach means getting rid of the charlatan we have right now then I'm all in for that.

We are continuing to stick with Arteta while all the top coaches are being snapped up by our rivals. Tuchel, Conte , Ten Haag. By the time we sack him we won't have many options.

I think what Ange had to deal with is far worse and he is already successful in Australia, International and Japan. Now Scotland too from the get-go with one of the worst Celtic squad in 2 decades transformed totally under him with almost no budget.

That say, yes he is a risk but I would love his attractive football. He didn't take long to instill that in Celtic.

Potter would be a far safer bet with the same attractive football. Outside of that, even Domenico Tedesco, Ruben Amorim might be a smarter gamble.

By the way, Anzac is aussie?! Totally didn't know that

He spent nearly £20m, a significant amount in Scotland, and more than they spent in the preceding few years combined. One of the worst squads in 20 years is outrageous considering the majority of the squad he took over had won four trebles in a row up to the year before he joined.

He has done well building a team and playing good football. But he totally failed in Europe and losing a semi to Rangers at the weekend is a black mark, especially considering Rangers went to extra time in the Europa League on Thursday, then still looked the better team throughout extra time on Sunday. The manner of that loss is almost worse than the loss itself.

I watched that match, Rangers played better the entire match. Celtic missed Gioukomakis up front and played without a striker which hurt them badly. Kyogo is unfit and came on in the 2nd half to no avail. Yeah was surprised they looked so tired by the 60th minute and Rangers played with more energy even in ET. A bit of an exaggeration though, black mark, manner of loss etc it happens everywhere even against teams that just played ET.

Was reading Tifo, he spent 20m because they sold 35m isn't it? They sold over 20 players etc, many were important first team players and in a season that they finished trophyless for the first time in god knows how many years IIRC which is why many said it was their worst squad (ageing, players out of sorts etc). Their transformation is massive for an almost entirely new squad, many were youth players that previously Celtic fans wrote off.

It simply means that he has won both league and Cup titles more than once as player and Captain, as well as representing his country - irrespective of where.

With the rebuild it was the first time for this team to participate in UEFA, and in many ways Rangers were able to draw upon their experience as a team from their mid-week game as the perfect lead-in to a Cup S/F, particularly when Celtic were missing players with injury etc.

ANZAC = Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. It comes from WW1 and primarily after the Gallipoli campaign. Anzac Day is held on the date of the Gallipoli landings at what is now known as ANZAC Cove on 25/04/15.

Ange would be great. Yes I'm Aussie so I'm biased but he wins when he wants, he wins when he waa-aa-ants, Ange Postecoglou, he wins when he wants. Seriously, the guy is a proven winner and more importantly, a great man manager. He's more like Wenger in that he plays his way and expects his team to win. He has some flexibility, but he trusts his system and his players. He really does inspire them. If we had Ange right now we would still have PEA and he would be banging them in.

According to his wiki page Rusty is still a NZ citizen.

Agreed to the rest to the point IMO we would not be featuring on any list for poor big chance creation nor conversion issues, and we would be fighting out top4 with CFC.
One player unlikely to still be at the club would be Xhaka - he may be reliable and never afraid to put his hand up on the pitch, but he is a black hole in regards to any vertical momentum and is the sort of player you'd bring on to slow the game and see it out after taking the lead.

In terms of his management and demeanor, there is a youtube video of a recent radio/phone interview after the loss last w/end where the reporter describes the loss as being catastrophic and a disaster for their season plans, and Ange calls him out for using those terms every time and yet he remains calm and matter of fact throughout when doing so.

Just reading that Nagglesmann got 450 death threats following Bayern's UCL exit to Villarreal.
He was on our Wish List to replace Emery = would we want him if he became available at the end of his contract?
And if so should we be considering giving Arteta and extension before we at least see if Nagglesmann is interested?

I think Postecoglou's achievements of relative success in Australia, Japan and Scotland together demonstrate he's a moveable talent, not one dependent on one club structure, mode of coaching or group of players. It's true the remaining factor is scale, and he's never taken on anything as high profile as Arsenal before.

He's also not a dickhead.

And he's also no Steven Gerrard, we're lucky we live in a world where few can justly be compared to Stevie.

I would take Postecoglou here happily, though it's not salient for next summer. It'd take a crisis for Arteta not to be kept on.

Just thinking back on this after the comment from Burnwinter.

In relation to the part in bold SAF says high. ;D
And not to forget AFC wanted him before MU, but the club were dickheads about it and didn't want to wait until after the WC (after Stein died and SAF took over managing the national team). We then moved for GG and MU waited for SAF to become available after the WC = thank you PHW.
