You're probably about right, in the first couple of seasons that might be all that they'll do. But they'll never settle for that on a permanent basis. Good luck telling Kroenke who owns an NFL team that a football match can't make room for any more ad breaks.

I’m interested to see what these clubs will do when UEFA and FIFA throw the ban book on them, because they undoubtedly will. Will they double stand firm when they face being kicked out of their domestic leagues for instance?

Nobody is banning anybody. The associations do not want a clean break. Losing these 6 clubs would have a catastrophic effect on the next domestic TV deal. And without that TV deal, the remaining clubs would be further imperilled, leading to closures of pretty much everyone below the championship. They were struggling as it was before Covid. Just look for articles in places like the Guardian.

The people most shitting themselves are Uefa. They could see their champs league cash vaporise.

Are you talking about the pushback from the fans or from UEFA/FIFA? If it's the former it seems crazy to me that a group consisting of multi billion corporations could make such a decision without knowing exactly how we'd react. Sure, Kroenke isn't browsing Reddit etc. but surely there are plenty of advisors whose job is to be somewhat in touch with the general supporter. If you're talking about the latter, then yeah maybe the reactions are stronger than they expected. It literally says on the official Super League website that they'll play ESL games mid-week and domestic leagues in the weekends so. .lol: But then again, what did they expect? This whole thing is weird. The founding fathers are basically Order 66-ing football.

Fans are fickle though, You've seen what fans (of all clubs) are like when the jerseys come out how often do they like them? then 15 years later they pay 3 times the original price second hand.

When the dust settles Arsenal fans are gonna be happy we've 250M extra per season and were in the ESL rather than outside europa.

How may fans complained about forign ownership ruining football only for their club to then be bought out. Shortly after they completely change there position.

It just now struck me the sheer number of games we will have to play if this goes through as planned. The minimum number of games played in the CL is 6. The ESL is 18. That is 12 extra games you'll have to fit in around the league, the cups, national team games and the winter break. On top of that the Euros was pushed back which means you'll have tournaments two years in a row coming up. I imagine the players might not be too thrilled about that schedule.

Yeah, no doubt however many fans they lose, they will find as many or more consumers who are ready to buy what they are selling.

They'll only be playing the 18 ESL games though. They'll be booted out of all other competitions.

They'll play reserves and youth in the league so it won't matter. There is no incentive to doing well in the league so that's what you'd sacrifice.

Bit of everything. Don't think they understood the level of fan backlash. That's lead to government's coming out against them and I think it strengthens the leagues positions. Pretty much everyone involved in the game that can has come out against it. I think they'll have expected criticism but not too much pushback. If they try to launch this in August do you think many will sign up for a new subscription to watch it? Will grounds be full?

The way it was announced shows the utter contempt for the fans. The ultimate "thanks for your interest in our affairs."
No longer a club, just a corporation. This was the Emirates dream. "Compete with the best in Europe" they told us.
