No wonder Kronke and the board did not bother to sack Arteta. They knew the money was coming in, who cares where we end up in the league. Lets see what FIFA & UEFA will do. I have a feeling nobody is getting kicked out, they won't get banned from the national teams...this will just happen.

I read that they cannot, something with the way they are owned by the supporters or something, I might be wrong but I think they might have to change that, and they never will.

The issue isn't that the big boys of Europe have a midweek league to test each other, it's that it's predecided who will be big boys and who won't. Only UEFA and FIFA would complain if you had to qualify each year.

Possibly, but where there is a will, there is a way. I specifically mentioned them because I think they will be the most problematic.

Sorry, I was in a rush, so didn't read the first part.

You are absolutely correct - there is no way these billion pound franchises have taken this decision lightly - they will have received all of the legal/administrative/actuarial advice already.

Some have suggested that this is a negotiating ploy to get reforms and better terms from the existing powers that be. Presumably you think that's guff and that this is now happening, Capi?

That's not something I can comment on unfortunately. I'm not privy to the information that would make that possible.

All I know is that most of them have made official statements, so it seems it is going ahead. It would be folly to make such a move if the end game was more negotiation.

Let's put it this way: you have two champions league semi finals on at the same time, one is porto v seville, the other is Madrid v Barca - which one are you watching and why?

Undoubtedly there are some purists who will watch what they think will be the better game but the vast majority will head to the latter.

I admit I'll watch the Superleague, but the CL semi you're talking about is only that bad because the good teams left the tournament you get into from performing and joined the one where performances don’t have consequences.

See you talk about plucky Villarreal but as far as Europe goes well are plucky little Arsenal. We are a domestic heavy weight not a European one so I think it's laughable that we are thinking we are a leading football club in Europe.

All this week mean in the owners guaranteed to make more money from us and don't have to invest. Why bother putting money in that can be lost. I think it's naiev to think a club that hasn't invested enough over the recent past it's suddenly going to try to raise its game.

Why bother when you're guaranteed the shared pot from this £4bn League. You don't need to raise your game because their are no consequences to not doing it.

This timing feels so poor. Aren't four of the enrolled teams currently in European semi-finals? Have they just forfeited that? and if not what is it even worth...
Same concept been emerging with cricket with inception of IPL, BBL, PSL, 'the Hundred' etc.
