awooga83 sorry, that’s not the aim. They don’t want to create a breakaway NFL style league. They want a league that sits on top of existing leagues so they can enjoy existing domestic revenue streams and then extract these super league rents on top.
And they know that European law is much more supportive of competition than US law that accommodates cartels. It will encourage a super league by saying clubs should be free to participate under different competitions.
The current stricture has failed to create pan European affluence. So I don’t see the strong arguments for keeping it without the necessary league-by-league overhauls and an actual coordination amongst FIFA, confederations and FAs instead of a scramble for players’ bodies
