If you see the amount written about Arteta destroying value for guys like Guendouzi who is in any case a 4-5x return on his original fee, yeah. And nothing is ever said about the fact that guys like ESR (£40m probably) and Saka (£60-70m I imagine) are developing rapidly under his regime. The net value creation is actually significant.

Obviously you can't compare how much people are complaining about Guendouzi etc. with how much people complain about Gnabry now since those cases are happening now while Gnabry happened 3-4 years ago.

I remember plenty of discussions back then where many slammed the club for it while others defended Wenger (ArtetaInBoy ofty was one of them of course) and said nothing could've been done. Literally the same thing happening now.

Where do you get 4-5x return from? We paid Lorient 8m for Guendouzi and are looking at 12m from Marseille.

Ah it was £7m. I thought it was less. So we get nearly 2x in 3. Its not a Leicester return but it’s fine. Thanks for the correction

It'd be fine if we couldn't have gotten more for him. We unceremoniously dumped him a bit over a year ago, he has a decent loan but breaks his foot and from all we've seen there's nothing to suggest Arteta has spoken to him to give him a line back into the team. Now we're considering 12m when he could've brought in 4-5x our original outlay like you said.

Not now. Looking at the trajectory he was on under Emery there certainly would be a club or two who'd pay that. PSG were linked before and after he moved to us, they probably wouldn't mind paying that much for a French CM who'd sort them there for years.

Whoops subconsciously must have been repulsed from mentioning the interested club that must not be named. I'm ok with it if it happens. I sense a poor culture in place to maximize or develop a player like Sancho. Also hope this means they don't follow up last summers pursuit of Haaland.

A lot of United fans unhappy, not so much with the Sancho deal, but their cynicism tells them that the Glaziers will just spend that on Sancho and do nothing else to keep them quiet.

I'd be more sympathetic if they didn't already have an £800m squad.

Just look at the Guendouzi thread 2 years ago. People were thinking of 40m for him when a lot of clubs were interested and he was first choice here running games.

Anyway Sancho is absolutely bloody quality. Don't let Southgate foolishness con you, he will be worth every penny for United and bring them up another level. Sancho + Fernandes is pretty darn good, could even unlock Pogba.

He’s so silky smooth. The way he was nonchalantly passing the ball against Portugal was impressive. He plays with so much swagger for the national team, a confidence that’s lacking at United. A bit like Lukaku with Belgium actually. It might help if he wasn’t routinely played on the wing. He touched the ball and 100 times versus Portugal. Looked like a Barca midfielder.

Three moments stood out for me. He had a 40 yard throughball around 15 minutes for Benzema that Rui Patricio saved. Then in the second half he had a similar throughball that earned Benzema the goal. And then this shot that was saved off the woodwork. The way he shook the defender here, that boy needs first aid.

Pogba is underrated on this forum.

Lukaku has been a beast for Inter last 18 months btw.
