Yeah, our lack of creativity up to Dec in general is obviously the biggest reason, but the lack of fans has to be a factor too. I'm certain we've benefited from it too away from home. I don't fear going to places like Palace anymore for example.

I was speaking to a Liverpool supporting mate of mine and he definitely felt the lack of fans has had an impact. He mentioned how there were signs of this downfall last season but the push from fans often got them the extra goal they needed. Again, they've not scored at all in 6 separate home games this season.

In Wenger's last season we scored 50 at home and just 20 away. This year we've scored 18 at home and 22 away.

IIRC there has been more than 1 article that has suggested the lack of Home supporters on match days has had an impact regarding the advantages of Home v Away games and results.

With Emery you could at least have the hope that he'd be able to get the team to show the level of his better Sevilla or Valencia teams. With Arteta all we have to look forward to is non negotiable turtlenecks.

I don't want to be polemical and genuinely can see both sides of the equation, leaning towards the results are just not forgivable. But in that vein, to those who want Arteta out, if by some miracle we manage to squeak through and make the EL final, and win on penalties despite being outplayed, would you still want him out? It's a genuine question.

Conversely, to those who want to persist with him and his vision/plan, etc., what does he have to show, at any point, in terms of results, for you to change your mind?

I'd tell him to either hire a bunch of experienced coaches who do 90% of his job and keep him as a figurehead intern who learns the ropes behind the scenes or sack him the day after. He probably wouldn't accept the former so

Everything we've seen so far suggests a highly inexperienced manager who's far too stubborn to go anywhere. I'm not blaming the club for giving him a shot, he was highly praised by his 'peers' and seemed to have the intangibles and the mind for a manager but he's just shit at the job. Everyone looks worse than they are, we play a disgusting brand of football and we're yet to see a real run of form. Worst of all he's playing favourites, everything else you might just be inept and not see what's happening but if you're willingly going back to the same players time and again and ruining the form of much more talented players you're veering into sabotage territory.
Just a hunch but from his soundbits interviews etc I bet he doesn't give a toss what his players used to look like for their old clubs because he's concerned with what they're showing now under him. Which is again either arrogance or stupidity because he doesn't assume he could be doing anything different to get more out of them.

I've seen a fair few on twitter and other places that heavily back Arteta too which surprised me. I guess the most most vocal are the ones who want him gone while his backers don't really have much to be vocal about. Worst I've seen was in Dec before the Chelsea game which had it at around 50/50.

It's a bit like Wenger, even at his lowest ebb right towards the end a significant minority still backed him. I wonder why Emery didn't enjoy the same sort of backing.

We should've seen the signs when Tierney and them called him a football genius. Usually it's managers from other clubs bigging up their colleague who's about to shit the bed and get the sack. Our off brand gaffer had to get his own players to do it. Poor form from our media department

For the record I still think Arteta will finish his time at Arsenal at least moderately successful.

Wenger is a club legend, the biggest club legend in modern years and possibly the most respected man in world football even if his last few years nibbed away at his standing. I still see articles in German referring to managers becoming "their Wenger" to their respective clubs for managers who are 5+ years at their club, recognition doesn't get much higher than that for a man who's never coached here with the xenophobic media we have.

Emery spoke shit English and made funny faces during games, he's a smart man but not exactly charismatic especially if you can't understand him. Stuff like good ebening literally ruins careers if you're not successful. With Arteta you have a young bloke who knows the league and who many fans still remember as a player, who's carried Guardiola's water for a couple years too. People are in love with the idea of him succeeding, if you had the exact same results and performances under Emery he'd long been ungraciously sacked.

Probably true to a large extent, but there are definitely aspects of life under Arteta that give me more optimism than Emery. I feel like I have a good idea of what the former is trying to achieve, with Emery I genuinely had no idea.

Wenger is a giant. Arteta would be lucky if he gets to be as high as Wenger's knees.

Main difference between Emery and Arteta is that the former does not speak well english and refused to use a translator. Other than that, if we look at the numbers, Arteta is worse than Emery.

The only one who is obtaining a profit here is Arteta. His first year as manager is in a big club of England.

Technically if we're talking about 'results' then Arteta secured European football and a trophy in his first half season (more than Emery) and he may well secure CL football and a trophy in his first full season.
