Has Arteta Truly Turned it Around?

I watched some of Klopp's post-match press conference, and he was asked about why he was going mental at the 4th official when Mané wasn't given a foul near the halfway line towards the end of first half. He said that he's sick of the treatment Mané gets, that he gets unfair treatment from the refs every week and is in no way, shape or form a diver, ever. Not one of those cowardly journalists had the balls or gumption to point out to Klopp that the serial cheat that is Sadio Mané threw himself down on the edge of our box without a single bit of contact just a few moments after the so-caled freekick.

So, yeah, Klopp can fuck right off.

Arteta has a completely valid point and other managers or posters that think it's to do with total fixture congestion are missing the point. These games should not have been arranged in the way they were. The league as a whole have argued for an end to these Wednesday night followed by Saturday morning fixtures. It's just unnecessary.

Geez, bit of an overreaction to what is a simple complaint. You have, on one hand, all the time in the world, and then on the other, the PL schedules critical games 3 days apart when it's entirely unnecessary. I'm happy he's complained, because it is very stupid. Decisions aren't being made in the interest of the sport, and in this particular case, Arsenal is getting the short end of the stick.

Since the creation of the premier League the interests of the sport have been secondary. It's been money and TV schedules. That decision was taken and it flooded money into the game that benefited the club's, players and staff including Arteta. If Arteta was challenging it back when he was playing arguing he should have less money for better balance etc then fine. Otherwise this is the game everyone has dealt with for years and the TV companies dictate the running order.

There are plenty of teams that could argue the recovery time stuff and while I wasn't against us abusing the system we forced a game off due COVID which was totally rubbish.

My point was more if that's how Arteta had been then taking a position in the fixtures could be more founded.

The reason is that fixtures move due to TV demand which has come about because of the money in the game. If you have always stood against that then fine your argument does look consistent otherwise football sold it's soul a long time ago and they did it to benefit many of the people who work within it. It's s bit late to get angry at that now for me and not consider it in the full context of how we got here.

Ole is a mug but he still got United to consecutive CL qualifications one of them a 2nd place finish, Arteta so far finished 8th twice. Lampard rightly got the sack by Chelsea when they were midtable, they would've sacked Arteta twice over going by the same standards.

He's no genius just because we're seeing the first sustained run of form in 30 months.

He got 74 points that season he finished second. Thats approx. what we are projected on to finish this season. I won't even get into the difference of resources and players between the two squads they managed. Nor Uniteds performances under Ole...
While I already said once that Arteta still has it everything to prove, and these are just the first few good signs and fruits of his labor, anyone who knows anything about football and follows the EPL, should plainly see the difference between those two and Arteta in everything they say, do and set out to do. One's a true professional, commited to his job who uses his actual head. No genius, and it still might not turn out great, as football is a complex game influenced by hundreds of factors. But the two amateurs in Ole and Lamps can't compare.

Jose finished 2nd and won two trophies the season before Ole took over. Old spent almost half a billion quid on transfers too.

In terms of quality of squad, the bar was a lot higher for Ole.

At least Arteta kept his job - showed massive character in dark moments and also won us a trophy, something Ole never did.

Now let’s never put their names in the same sentence again.

Mikel has also positively transformed the culture at the club and the vibe amongst the fans. We now have a great platform to go on to the next level.

It would have been extremely short sighted to get rid of him during a time where a rebuild was in its infancy during unprecedented times.

Thats one of the big things for me.. Changing the lax/soft culture that has plagued this club for so long was always going to be painful and probably to the detriment of the team in the short term performance wise... but he stuck at it, kept to his principles and we have a much more proffesional team/culture now.. regardless what happens going forward, its one of the best things to happen at the club in a long while as far as I am concerned

Yep. Even if it still goes wrong and he gets sacked, he'll have at least set out the blueprint regarding culture and work ethic.

The club had been blind for a decade to the fundamentals.
