In the case of Arteta's regime the thing I want to see is progress in the areas of focus: developing a young squad, coherence and understanding on the pitch, defensive solidity, belief. Solskjaer shouldn't be a good comparison because United is a freakish club, and we don't want to become like them in any sense.
When United were transitioning out of the Ferguson era I used to look at what they were doing and think it was the opposite of what we should do after Wenger, particularly the instability that prevailed at the executive level at the same time as they hired anxious touchline clowns like Moyes and Van Gaal, backed them then buried them.
To me watching Solskjaer managing Ronaldo summarises what happens at a club when you've pressed the same eject button too many times without attention to holistic change. I have very limited faith in Arteta to take us forward, but we should take note of what else needs to happen to create success.
