I don’t want Conte and that’s despite rating him very highly as a head coach. But unless he’s willing to take on a young team and persist with it, which I’m fairly certain he won’t, then it’s a dangerous move, especially without a strong technical director in place.

Yes our playing style is painful at times but at least Arteta has a style and he has deployed several tactics in his time here

Our players still want to play for Arteta. Not sure that’s the same for Ole.

Quincy. I’m Arteta in all day but you can’t turn your nose at Conte. I’m Laca all day too but if I was offered Haaland I would bin the Frenchman.

I think that your point is debatable, but for me both of them are not up to their tasks, besides of who's better than who.

We have a complete disaster as coach, I would take any one-year caretaker that at least would be considered as a EPL league manager (Who would hire Arteta in our league besides Arsenal? There's your answer)

Be good if Arteta can get us set up well enough to avoid a 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool in a month or so. We have emphasised defence in both our squad planning and our tactics so even if a result can't be expected, we should demand our dignity be intact.

if we get mauled 5-0 it'll be because of a Xhaka red card following someone of theirs blatantly punching one of our lads in the face.

Ha. Excellent work on the expectation management front Bandy.

It'll be a shame if anything like that sort of disaster detracts from what we learn about where we're at. Defending isn't all from the rear but I would love to see our new look backline and keeper frustrate serious opposition in great form.

I feel like we need to evolve beyond that a little and make life difficult for them. As good as they are, they had Milner, Henderson and Keita in midfield against United, and finished the game with Ox, Henderson and Jones. Jota and Firmino are not exactly world class either.

I'm less concerned by the tactics on the day as much as our attitude and intensity. I don't want us to come of as scared and apprehensive, and I don't want the opposition to look comfortable. The danger of going too defensive is that you fall into the trap of just hanging on.

I don't think the attitude has been the problem at all. We even started the Chelsea and City games positively. Its once things go against us we fall back. And Liverpool will do that to us anyway so we might as well just go out with that as the plan.

Those guys are on fire. I think that a really ultra conservative approach would be the best choice. That doesnt mean that the team should behave like kitties, they should fight like lions. Mou for example was good at that psychological aspect--parking the bus without being scared

We have been saying that but in those big games whenever we even showed abit of ambition we are 4-0 down by half time

We can’t let that stop us though.

I want us to be a brave team so I can’t really reconcile that with hey let’s go defensive for Liverpool.

No, let’s try to get at them. We are no good under pressure anyway. They are likely to break us down anyway. So go for it. Get at them, and we are good enough to score two quick goals before teams are able to react. Then we have something to hold on to, something to fight for.

By all means try a few things to mitigate their strengths, but make sure we still have plenty of avenues of attack to get at their shoddy defence.
