An equivalent from an Arsenal point of view would have been to, for instance, bring back Bennacer when we had a clause, and to pick up Buendia in any of the last two summers. Imagine where we could have been if we had actually hired competent people.

Think being the biggest team in Italy has a lot to do with who they can pick up on cheap and free transfers just like Bayern.

Thiers a solid reason the team with the 5th biggest wage bill in Italy Fiorentina (or whoever it was at the time) didn't attract pogba, pirlo and marchisio. In the same way Bremen didn't sign Lewandowski on a free when he was available.

Mbappe would have been best at arsenal under Wenger, but he close money and titles in Paris. Had we been top 2 in England (no sugar daddy clubs) theirs a good chance we would have got him.

Well Pirlo was rumoured to go back to Brescia or retire at the time. No one thought he had anything left in the tank. Pogba wasn't rated because he was 17 and hadn't played a minute of first team football. I get what you're saying, but you also need people who can spot an opportunity when it's there. It was a very uncharacteristic way for a club like Juve to rebuild a squad, never mind one that good. Coming from Serie B with that reputation they had much less pulling power than the other big ones in Italy too.

Pogba was very highly rated. It's like when chelsea got done for transfers, they immediatly came back with the same pulling power as they had before. It'd be the same if city got relegated. They'd instantly come back up and be fighting at the top of the table in a couple of years. All the infrastructure is there and the pulling power.

Honestly don’t see what Arteta’s plan is with team building.

He sells Martinez then doesn’t replace him.
Has 3 RB’s and can’t / doesn’t sell any of them.
Has a load of CBs where we have invested heavily yet loans out the big investment and spends our whole transfer budget on his replacement (what happens when Saliba is back? One of Gab, White, Saliba will leave)
Has no CM’s bar Partey that is good enough yet refuses to buy there, and gives Xhaka a long term improved contract.
Gives a new bumper contract and number to ESR then wants to spend 60m+ on replacing him in the team.
Gives Auba a contract then plays him wide and plays Laca. Then plans to spend a load of money on a CF.

When Arteta gets sacked the next manager will be working with a frankenstein type squad.

Season kicks off in a week and our squad is no better - absolute joke

Still have a shit midfield and the geriatric duo up top

We're an Ødegaard short so attacking-wise the squad is even worse.

We are going nowhere until we get rid of him.

It's really not clear on anyway what they plan is. Based on what I've seen over the last 2 seasons he hasn't progressed the team at all.

Should be a case if we are 10 games in and we are 6 or below that should be enough for change. But as we know the owners are also totally disconnected.

You don’t think Xhaka, £50m Benny Blanco and Jimmy Madson when he gets here are going to do the trick?

Auba might have a breakout season.

Starting to hate Arteta. Comes across as a real smug cunt too, for someone who achieved so little in the game as either player or manager I'm not sure where he gets his arrogance from. Can't wait for him to fuck off.

I don’t let him wind me up anymore. He’ll be gone very soon.

We should make a crimes against football for Arteta in his short term career as a manager.

Guys going to be the most costly mistake we made, and we’ve made plenty. The long term damage he’s doing will be felt by the next few managers. Completely out of his depth.

i had a dream last night he signed a 10 year extension.

this club now ruins my conscious life and also my unconscious life too

Need to drink more to care less and help the pain go away.

This is what I was worried would happen with 2 novices at the helm = absolute cluster and we're hoping for another trolley dash to see us right.
The collective excuse will be COVID however for mind we lack the appetite and drive to go out and make it happen for us.

I have now resigned myself to the fact that we will go through a long period of irrelevance before something catalyses a recovery. I must admit that I thought that post Wenger it would take us 2-3 years to stabilize before we compete again. It not feels like we'll need a big stroke of luck (appointment of a high quality DoF / manager, etc.) to catalyse us into getting back into the consideration set for top 4.

I'm still Wenger-in.

Give the man his job, back. Evidently the problem at the club was recruiting. It has always been recruiting.
