can't agree to that at all, but then again that's what I said when this was mentioned earlier. This thread is just becoming circular.

It has. But Emery left us in mid table and we are still mid table now, that's what qs meant.

I think Wenger will never leave us below 7th but we will always be stucked with the same joke tactics in big games. Now we just have more highs and lows and different way of failing which is actually what we said we don't mind about as long as we are trying something different

Hard to feel too pleased with that comparison as we finished 5th in 18/19, winning twice as many games as we lost.

With our improved defence, we're in 11th, with more losses than wins.

maybe the problem is me and im disillusioned at this point, but i just cant get over the stats from this match.

a home game, in the league, against a leeds team that has a diabolical defense and plays counterattacking football. and leeds had 54% possession. both teams had 5 shots on target. 5.

we won 4-2 and i should feel happy, but even after scoring 4 goals, i just cant see the long term plan here.

i honestly hope the club is looking at other options for the summer

Use the eye test instead of shots on goal. We should've had another penalty, we had two shots in the post that count as shots off target, we had several chances where we didn't get a shot off. It was a good attacking performance.

Leeds have out possessed(?) every team they've played this season according to Clrnc, including when they drew with Man City and lost 4-3 to Liverpool. There's no shame in it.

we also had 75-25 possession basically for the first 10-20 minutes of the second half (from a graphic that popped up mid game), and around 55-45 for the first half.

When we scored the 4th the game was effectively over. Perhaps we got a tad bit complacent hence why they got in the game. I wouldn’t worry too much about stats for this one.

We are clearly improving.

Definitely been on the up since Boxing Day. We finally see actual progress. We saw the reverse with Emery.

I'm cautiously excited.

His shortcoming will be Willian and David Luiz. If he has the balls to move them along in the summer and incorporate Saliba into the squad the fans will be more forgiving.

Another season of languishing in midtable whilst regularly fielding Willian and Luiz might be too much but if we can get Martinelli, Saliba etc. replacing those minutes the outlook will be different because realistically I see us between 7th and 11th again next season. There really is not much between us and the midfield at the moment.

Its great to see so many players progressing under arteta. Under emery we really didn't see that. Were never going to out spend the top teams, any success we do have will require buying and further developing talents like Liverpool have.

What I like about LFC is their ability to identify talent in lower divisions that fit their purpose, and then being decisive to go and get it and trust their recruitment rather than waiting for them to have a break out season and come to everyone's attention.
Would have to include the likes of LCFC as well in terms of smart buying.

TBH I don't think they would, and I also don't think they'd get an elite level manager without both serious investment AND UCL football.
IMO the only remaining option (in terms of reputation) if we want dynamic attractive attacking football would be the likes of Nagglesmann, and I don't see that happening.
