You mean as he got more opportunities to play? I could be mistaken, since I've tried to block this season out of my memories, but I don't remember Pepe getting a run of games to build consistency at the start of the season.

Pepe was done over at the start of the season, but credit to him he's responded in exactly the way you'd want to see. Seems desperate to succeed here and I hope Arteta rewards him for that.

It was nice to hear freddie give him credit in the post match. He mentioned how he'd stand around and not defend when he arrived. Which was fine in an easy league but not ok in the prem. Which is why he wasnt picked but hes working a lot harder now

Pepe was great when given a run, as many of us expected. Seen a stat earlier saying first season in Nice 8 goals, second season 14, 3rd season 23. First season at Arsenal 8 goals, second season 14... Its probably bullshit but I liked it anyway. Definitely think he's good for 15 league goals if he's played regularly.

it's lille and he only played there 2 seasons. i think whoever posted the stat just saw his wiki page and the 2015–16 loan season with orleans in the 3rd division is listed right above his first season w/ lille and he scored 8 total goals for orleans and 14 and 23 for lille.

This is exactly it. You can see that his work rate is significantly higher in both directions. This isn’t the same player we had last year. We have a better player now. It’s an investment. We didn’t play him a lot but we’ve worked on his game. He can attack from both flanks and he defends with vigor. My feelings about keeping him or not have definitely moved. I think he can be more consistent but his hard work coupled with goal threat probably make him our most dangerous attacker now.

Aye before he looked like he'd score you 10 and cost you at least 10 over a season. That's who no sane manager picked him.Like Bale at spurs we murdered them down that flank when he didn't track back. You cant make it that easy for the opposition nowadays.

I was watching that, looked like Freddie making excuses for his own failure to pick him. He'd actually been tracking back quite a bit under Emery when given a chance, again another poor manager who wouldn't play him regularly. At least Arteta realised he'd been wrong.

I said when we signed him we should flip him fast beacuse it too much money to wait for soemone to develop. That's exactly how this has turned out.

Rather than you thinking none of the previous managers noticed he kills people 1v1 in training. It's kind of hard not to notice. Any fan over the age of 5 has noticed its hard to believe managers wouldnt have noticed.

Definitely feels like a turnaround story. Like Arsenal it’s still a WIP but I look forward to next season
