I'd just buy a starting striker regardless. Laca has had loads of minutes. If we are shipping him and Eddie then buy a striker and Auba can fight for his place at CF and LW. He'll be in the 2nd year of his 3 year deal and probably need a bit more rotating anyway. We need to be pro-active about his age and inevitable decline. I also think a top striker would make a big difference to us, especially someone who can compete in the air.

Arteta claimed a while back that he would keep getting chances regardless of the contract situation, but I don't think either the coaches or the players were impressed with Balogun's tweets after the Southampton game. I agree. But every internal solution would be immensely helpful for the club right now and it's a shame he's turned out to be a bit of an asshole, leaving us with one more position where we most likely need another signing sooner rather than later.

But then again, Auba's still here, just have to hope he ages well, and I can definitely see him still banging in goals in his mid-thirties.

i remember we had a hotshot prospect who celebrated (in the stadium) when we got tonked by united at home one year. he didn't amount to shit. balogun is mega talented but that kind of attitude is a big red flag. the guys we regret losing don't have attitude issues and wish us the best. these types i almost hope for their failure.

I don’t think he’s a cultural fit either. Arteta favors team orientation over self orientation. This is what’s killed guys like Ozil and Guendouzi. And Balogun exhibits similar qualities. It’s hard to root for the upstart. Very different from ESR, Martinelli and Saka who’ve just come in and let their football do the talking

I'm totally in favor of putting the club before the players. I just don't want to go down that road again where the manager seizes total control of the club. Chance here for a healthy balance.

I remember him. People speculated that Wenger was referring to him and Jack Wilshere when he said that we had two players in the academy who were 'technically perfect'. He debuted for England's U18 side at the age of 14. He plays for Herne Bay now apparently in the Isthmian League, outside the professional league pyramid.

Wilshere was already well established by then. I think Wenger was referring to Afobe (lol) and Aneke.

I'd be tempted to sell Willock in the summer. It's not that I don't rate the kid, I think he'll have a really good career in the PL, but I see him as a being just that level below a top 6 side.

My thing with Willock is I think he has some physical development left to do and then he could potentially go up a level or two. Of the young players who aren't quite making their mark he's the one I'd keep. Could do with a season long loan in the Championship though.

My main issue with him is his decision making which I think is quite poor. He holds the ball far too long and tries to force things too much. Again he's a Ramsey all over, I just doubt he has the same spark of genius.

Just like Ramsey, I think it's hard to fit a player like that in any formation other than a 4-3-3.

I don't see that as a problem. How often are you going to be playing without a midfield 3 be it in a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1 (which Ramsey played his best football in). Not that I really agree anyway, Joe seems pretty versatile. If anything he needs to focus on a set position in midfield.
