If the experiment fails, by all means replace. For me, that’s what this season is about. We will never have another opportunity like this again to really understand what works and what doesn’t. Next year we need to comfortably be in the top 4 race after the knowledge gained from our experimentation

I'm not quite back on the Laca wagon. He was great for a couple of matches and has been okay plus/minus after that. My worry is that his only games only come the few times he's in perfect physical condition.

The reason I want Auba to play there even though he's been worse than Laca this season is that if it works out it'd be much better for our team since he's not the kind of winger I want while his movement in the box and (at times) finishing would be very valuable to keep in the team.

Don't disagree. However, I am not sure if we can spread our money. A top forward can have a transformative effect. We will need one absolute top class player. If we get value and luck like with Salah or Mane then great but I don't mind if we go big on a center forward if we have to, rather than on a midfielder.

Give him the benefit of the doubt. Fans have become too cynical. That said, I agree, we know his ceiling. It's just not good enough and I will go as far to saying, it's limiting. He can't be our first choice next season.

We already have our Laca replacement lined up and it won’t cost us a penny (in transfer fees).

He goes by the name of Balogun.

Laca works better when he has midfield runners. He played well when Ramsey was on the pitch and is now showing form with ESR on the pitch. Either way we need to replace.

Luiz didn’t do anything wrong. It was a ref shocker.

Having said that, perhaps he should have been rested tonight. 33 years old etc. Arteta will learn.

The only thing Luiz did wrong was not to contest the decision, put some pressure on the ref to at least go and have a look at it on the screen, which he decided to not even do, incredibly.

Change to an inverted midfield 3,
sign both Ceballos and MO if possible,
start with 3 of Ceballos - DLP, Partey - B2B & MO/ESR - Advanced playmaker = subject to fixture,
with the 4th as the midfield sub.

My concern is that we may not have a better opportunity to regain top4/UCL than THIS season, as I expect CFC to get their shit together NEXT season re top4/PL title contenders.
IMO we botched the season in the summer re our lack of squad purge and rebuild, and we were always going to struggle with so many players unavailable at the start.

He seems very popular in the squad and I think that counts for something, but I agree he can't be our first choice striker next season. If Auba is first choice up top then sell Laca and Eddie and reinvest in a younger striker, and try to keep Balogun I guess, but haven't really seen enough of him.

Pretty sure Balogun is done here. Hasn't been in first team training since early jan.

I think looking at our squad it all depends on if Martinelli is better on the wings or striking position to either invest big in a striker or someone like Grealish. Like goon said, there are no exciting strikers around that's even making our wishlists these days that's gettable.

We have Martinelli, Pépé and Aubameyang on our books. The solution might be internal.
Lacazette is not doing anything. He has one assist for a goal where Pépé put 2 people flat on their faces and no shots. No other chances created. The guy has incredibly low productivity. It’s not like we are replacing Firmino. Saka and Pépé are top tier finishers. As long as we have the capacity to get the ball up the field and keep it there, our little guys will score

This is why we need to play Auba more upfront. Come summer we need to know if we need a striker or not. We should also try Martinelli there, because even though he sees himself as a winger his skillset is perfect for a striker.
