Mustafi leaving is a very good day.
It feels like we've gone some way to resetting things, giving Arteta a chance to build a serious team and put together a proper squad in the summer window.
Hopefully the clear-out will be pretty much complete this summer when Xhaka is sold, and Lacazette, given he will only have a year left and, decent as he has recently been, the guy just doesn't offer enough as our starting striker. Luiz will go anyway because his contract is up, and if Willian continues his dire form then we'll surely try to find a home for him in China or the MLS or somewhere. I'd also add Bellerin to the list of players that aren't good enough but are either on big wages and/or play far too many minutes to remain in the squad moving forward.
The other aspect of building the squad this summer is going to be trading the players that don't fit with what Arteta is trying to build, but are potentially valuable to other teams. Chambers, AMN, Guendouzi, Nketiah, and Pépé all fall into this category, for me. If the money starts flowing again in the summer, then that could be £100m worth of sales for players that are contributing very little.
