I don't want Ramsdale either, I want Onana. I don't see why we don't loan a solid Number 2 for the season and sign Onana for the peanuts Ajax want for him. He can train in September, play in November - it makes so much sense.

I saw this video of Onana, I can't imagine many goalkeepers being comfortable doing this!

He looks such a confident and cool keeper, I think he'll get better with age as he knocks the rough edges off. But you can't teach that confidence.

That's a pretty shitty video tbf but I agree he's the one to get. He's beyond simply incredibly confident he has that deranged aura that most great goalies have, he takes headers where other goalies like our timid Leno wouldn't even jump with their hands first. Great shotstopping and one of the best with the ball at his feet, and all for less than 10m - that's the fee Lyon were quoted while Overmars is really easy to deal with especially for us. Allthewhile Ramsdale who I wouldn't even take for free costs 40 fucking million.

It is a shitty video, I agree - I just happened upon it. But I asked myself how I'd feel if our timid Leno, as you rightly called him, was in those positions? I would be certain a fuck up would be about to happen, either directly by him or by one of the defenders because he's put them under pressure with a bad pass. And I agree about Onana in commanding his box too. He might make a few mistakes but at least he has the balls to come and be dominant. He's going to be a super keeper over the next 5 or 10 years or so. Far too good for Lyon ffs! Sort it out Arsenal.

Yeah I would like Onana, not as good as Martinez but for 10m its a no brainer. I am surprised you liked him though Ricks, if I remember correctly you always like more commanding keeper, stable and less flashy. Onana is the opposite for me, very agile and sometimes erratic.

I hate goalkeepers that are too cowardly to leave their lines more than anything. Flashy shot-stopping but no organisation or command of their defenders and his box. De Gea is probably the keeper that most represents what I don't like. Onana is the opposite in terms of character and confidence, although I don't know about his organisational and leadership skills.

I also accept the way things have changed - the ability to intelligently and reliably start the build-up is an absolutely vital quality for a goalkeeper to have these days. As important as top level shot-stopping.

I think with Onana that he could develop into a keeper that has no real weaknesses. He might always have a moment of madness in him ala Manuel Neuer, but that comes with moments of genius too.

I think as soon as Onanas ban was shortened he had better offers than us and that why we have gone quiet on him. Its easy to say Arteta and Edu should get Onana but if he doesn't want to come here then its impossible.

Also, I don't see which clubs, Qs? Barca have and are keeping Ter Stegen, Madrid have Courtois, Atleti have Oblak, Bayern still have Neuer, PSG signed Donnarumma; in England all the other top clubs have there Number 1's firmly established, and the one that doesn't, United, are intent on giving Henderson a chance to oust De Gea.

We certainly are well positioned to sign him, and as Quince says, he's not going to pick Lyon ahead of us.

Inter don't have money and still have Handanovic, Milan have signed Maignan. Juve don't look like they're signing a goalie, German CL teams don't look like they're getting one either.

Lyon I could consider if they had CL but they don't. We definitely could sign him if we wanted to, and while I think our coaches are inept the one thing that could play into our hands here is that Cana worked with him before. Apparently they even follow each other on instagram ffs
