That's bleak BW 🙂

Anyone predicting a takeover by Usmanov?

Think any such manoeuvre will be blocked for the time being.

Strikes me that Kroenke is hardly likely to let Usmanov commandeer his 30% stake without a struggle. Seems to take a longer term view of sports club development as well, whereas Usmanov's more in the sabre-rattling to win popular acclaim mode.

1: We will finally travel to the USA for a pre-season marketing tour, but not a very long one.
2: Almunia will leave, hurt and broken, and sign for a spanish team, not a good one.
3: Denilson will stay. Lansbury will however take over his role as cover, resulting in Lansbury leaving in january to play PL football, and Denilson being completely out of shape to retain his role.
4: We will sign a central midfielder in the Song mould.
5: Arshavin will come back wider than he is tall.

Signings: Only one significant signing will be made. The player in question will be a technical small striker/winger/wide forward/whatever between 19 and 25, and sign for 15-20m. He will have incredible highlights reels but will be physically diminutive and will either have a suspect temperament, non-PL DNA, or be injury prone. He will win us several matches, frustrate the hell out of us and provide the topic for most arguments between August and December 2011. He will not be Eden Hazard.

Hazard fits that profile almost to the letter.

Exactly! It would be way too obvious for a Wenger signing.

@Ricky: to the letter apart from the asking price of 15-20m, he'll go for more than that I think. If he goes at all this summer, although it is a fair guess that he re-signed with Lille in order to make sure they get their due on him.

He re-signed with Lille so his agent can make some money now and some more money in June.

prediction: bw's predictions will be errily accurate come this august.

Screw playing it safe with your predictions, I predict we will bring in 2 big names this summer! How's that!

1) Biggus will smile and be happy.
2) Biggus will get his internet connection fixed and once again be able to access OMT.
3) Biggus will stop smiling and being happy.
4) Wenger will sign a further contract extension.
5) Australian news channels will report mentally unbalanced Irish male heading off into bush alone with shotgun, George Graham's greatest defensive displays DVD and a newly developed Harry Redknapp-esque tick.

We will only sign one big name. It will be this guy:

I'd argue that that's two names!

I'd argue it's more like two big name players and a smaller named player brought in for our link-up play between the two new big names.

what's the deal with his name, anyway? did the vennegors of hesselink get fed up of being confused with the vennegors of the next town over?

Ha, had to look it up on wiki.

"Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's name derives from the 17th century, when two farming families in the Enschede area of the Netherlands intermarried. Both the Vennegoor and Hesselink names carried equal social weight, and so — rather than choose between them — they chose to use both. "Of" in Dutch translates to "or" in English, which means a strict translation of his name would read 'Jan Vennegoor or Hesselink'.[26][27] This could be considered as having the same effect as the double-barrelling of English surnames."

Rosell

"If the coach demands Cesc we will negotiate with the Gunners, but at a correct limit and without madness and if the operation is not possible, we will wait for other opportunities.
"Our relationship with Arsenal is not good.
"The future of Cesc is in his hands and we could only negotiate with Arsenal if Guardiola insists. Only with any sale is it possible to increase the money for the negotiations."

He got that right.
