lorddulaarsenal I think he's much better than he showed last season. Probably still regaining confidence in his body and trying to find his game again. It's not easy to come back after that kind of layoff and we had a fully functioning team so he needs to be reintegrated so he understands how and where he fits in.

ESR biggest issue is his lack of self confidence. It was obvious when we were first noticing him in those emirates cup games and it’s obvious now. Unfortunately it’s not a footballing issue that we can just solve, especially by keeping him at the fringes of the squad. I’d consider throwing him in at the deep end and loan him out to a tough premier league club where he’s going to be the main man, where he’s going to be playing no nonsense, physical football. Which would also benefit his second biggest issue, his lack of power, especially when striking the ball. He should look to the guy he gets his Croydon de Bruyne nickname from. If the guy didn’t strike the ball so well where would he be? It’s an underdeveloped part of Emile’s game, though understandable considering his roots in the pass and move culture at Arsenal.

Not sure I see a lack of confidence on the pitch tbh.. off it sure. But on it, he is confident AF.. Just need to show if he can up his game and catch up to the rest.

Doc totally agree. We are talking about a guy who barely featured then due to injuries got his go and destroyed Chelsea straight away. His issues this season were recovering from major surgery then having no cup games to get him re-integrated into the team.

He has so much quality, we've already seen him carry the team for long stretches. He just needs to get his fitness and momentum back. Too many people writing off a guy who was brilliant even playing with injury. We have never seen a fully fit ESR. His potential if gets to that point is sky high.

Like Nelson getting that all important burst to allow him to get to the required level, Smith Rowe needs to develop a pausa.

Won’t happen though as that can’t really be taught

Another goal for the England U21s for Smith Rowe. A very Smith Rowey goal it was, too!

I hope he pushes hard for game-time in that midfield next season. If he's learned a thing or two after a hard year, and toughened up (my biggest criticism of him - he's too much of a pansy), then he could be really useful to us.

Honestly looking forward to ESR getting more game time. Guy has saved Arteta's bacon on a couple occassions when he came back into the team.

He has been so unlucky with injuries but he has everything to be up there with Saka and Martinelli. His close control dribbling, ability to play those quick give and goes, he's always making a move. And his finishing is already at pretty high levels.

He needs a good loan to a progressive PL club. Fulham would be a good fit I reckon. They've lost Solomon and Willian so are short of options on the wings and he'd be one of their best players straightaway. Marco Silva plays good football and he'll get to stay in London.

What he doesn't need is another season on the bench and Arteta not involving him in any meaningful way.

We're going to be involved (mostly seriously) in 4 competitions guys... Arteta has proven that most players have to earn his trust and their place in the first eleven. But we have no choice this season. We will have a preferred first team for the premier league and champions league. We can and probably will also have a dedicated second string team for the league and FA cup.

We need a squad. They won't all get regular first team minutes. They understand their roles, and accept it. If one or two can push into the first team on a regular basis, great for us. If not, they'll be serving an equally important function of keeping us pushing on all fronts, staying fit and ready in case of injuries or fatigue to first team players.

Yeah, true. I'm thinking/hoping nelson locks down a spot on the bench with the first team and plays with them more often than not.

Also, I suspect Arsenal will be like the Arsenal of old fairly soon where we've knocked the wind out of teams nice and early and can cruise control ourselves into the win by mid second half. We are better set up to do our damage and devastation even faster now
