Three weeks ago the positon Smith-Rowe plays didn't exist in the team. Arteta has been forced to switch things around because his football was so horrid he was close to entering the relegation places. Was it 11 or 12 hours we went without scoring from open play?

Arteta played the right players literally as soon as they were available. The only thing forced about this are the players available. That'll change over time and Arteta will win more games.

Yeah, Willian is the best example. C'mon mate, it seems more like the situation forced Arteta to give the chance to some kids. The correct answer lies in the middle: Arteta has played the right players in certain cases, but in others he did clearly the complete opposite.

Players like auba weren't even trying. So you can put the blame entirely at artetas feet. Both the players and arteta are to blame.

He tried willock, William and ozil in that role and they all looked like championship quality.

We played two games with Willock in there and two with Laca before ESR became available. Not to mention every EL game as well as pre-lockdown with Ozil. All in all that’s 20+ games.

IMO Arteta has not been able to play his best XI as yet this season, let alone start them.
IMO injuries and loss of form had completely derailed the plans made last summer.

Indeed. Plus our horrid run towards the bottom started with the attempt to break out of the 3-4-3.

IMO we stagnated in the 343 because it lacked balance, and the slide started when we tried to address that.
The change away from the 343 was the result of trying to add creativity into the middle away from becoming overly reliant upon the flanks as the only means to advance the ball in the final 3rd.

If we’d just signed him for £50m to be our new attacking midfielder and he’s performed the way he’s done, everyone would be waxing lyrical about what a great signing he is. He’s genuinely transformed our attacking play.

Sometimes young players come in and look good but don’t have great stats to back it up initially. This guys already got 5 assists, 2 goals and is racing up the chances created charts. Natural end product.

His precious hamstrings will need to be managed over the next few months, but if he can avoid a big injury we might get another cup run this season.

Yeah. I wasn’t watching for him physically overpowering inferior athletes. Watch his Championship videos and you immediately see that this kid’s technique is of a different order. Technically, this is our best player. I’m not kidding.

That’s why I said the goals will come. Because if he is regularly around the zone in front of the box and we are feeding it, he will get shots. He can beat a defender on either side. Doesn’t need to pivot and steady himself. He is always balanced. The only thing missing is a good shot but that will come given his ability to place the ball.
