Pretty sure Hein or Macey are better goalies than this guy.

Colour me surprised. We all knew Runarsson would cost us big and he did. Joke of a signing, joke of a player, joke of a club.

. Jokes aside he was happy to bench Martinez last season and play total amateur in cups this season, wtf?
Any chance he saw Martinez get thrown in the deep end after Leno went down and decided he’d better make sure his keepers get match practise?
Runnarson didn’t have too much to do in the Europa League games, so maybe he thought this would be the last chance in a while to see what this guy’s got.
I do not care what he was thinking, I know what I have seen today, and that was a performance below any professional level, if you disagree, then let's agree to disagree.
I missed the game, but I was glad to see that Smith-Rowe and Balogun got a few minutes. I actually thought we were going to get tonked worse tonight based on our form lately, so I don't really know how to approach this result. It makes you feel tired I guess, like we've already had to endure a season's worth of disappointment in December.

Worth watching the highlights to see the 1.5 million pound man in action.

You are missing out a lot Klaus. This game literally sums up banter era for Arsenal. Please download it and watch it, at least suffer together.
By the way if anyone is interested Arteta says we were the better team for half an hour.

Did he pull out the StatDNA summary as proof?

I've got it recorded but I'm gonna let it stew for a while I think. It feels good for once to just have to deal with a few seconds of stinging disappointment when I saw the result versus the 90 minutes of constant disappointment that our games usually offer.
How did Marty play? Any reason he only got 49 minutes today?
Marti was great. Picked up a knock and had to go off, probably impact.

The game was horrible, Klaus. It's one of the worst football displays I have ever seen. We spent the first 30 minutes struggling to complete passes to each other and it looked like we would be tonked. And then Gaby came alive, showed really quality to deliver two beautiful crosses in quick succession, the second of which led to the goal.
Shortly thereafter, the City goalkeeper scythed him down on a counter. Could've been a red. Gaby, lay in agony, cried and was attended to by the club medics for a long time. He saw out the remaining 3 minutes of the first half but was subbed 3 minutes after the interval, again raising questions about how we treat our players.
The second half was just City running through us even though they were in 3rd gear. ESR came on for a while and looked decent. Other than that, we just looked like we receive no coaching whatsoever.

Don't help Klaus. Give him the full story.
Got a knock from an awful tackle, was literally crying and couldn't continue. Hobbled off, we forced him to continue in the 2nd half and he broke down within minutes of it. Like how we treated Partey

You have to watch the goals at least, our goalkeeper was something else today, another level.

Eh, that's not how I quite saw it.
It was an aggressive tackle but within the goalie's rights, and it's speculative to say "we forced him to continue". Sure, we could have told him he wasn't playing but I'd imagine Martinelli was the one advocating to play, more so than Arteta who could easily replace him with Pepe.
shows how much attention I've paid this. didn't realise this was a home game
Arteta says Saliba can't be played today because he is not in the squad. Surely that's wrong?
On the bright side, at least we didn't pay 80M Eur for Runarsson like Chelsea for Arrizabalaga.
In any case, if Leno picks an injury is game over for us. Things could get worse than Cannibal Holocaust.

That's a rather toxic interpretation of the facts. For all we know, the medical staff gave him a choice and he pressured them to play. Or maybe that didn't happen. Understand everything to do with us is pretty dire right now and not fun to watch but think we can all benefit from dialling the venom down a notch.

Absolutely, so when people say we've hit rock bottom, they don't know what that means. Rock bottom is lying 24th in EFL League 2. If Runarsson gets any meaningful playing time this season, you can kiss Premier League football goodbye. That guy was not even playing for a team that finished 16th in Ligue 1 last season and we bought him knowing full well our second choice keeper will get significant minutes during the season.

That could be true too, but it would then be very worrying our medical staffs listen to the players rather than their own medical judgement.
And generally that's not how it works. The medical staff and manager always have the final say and decide whether it's worth the risk.
