We should try a Partey Ceballos Willock midfield simply because it has the most upside if it works.

It's Ceballos for the same reason Pepe is the answer to who plays on the right hand side, they're both clearly more talented than the other options.

I don't really understand why both have found themselves outcast after finishing last season strongly. Statistically they're also the two most creative players in the side. I have no issues with Elneny, he's a decent squad option, but Arteta needs to live a little.

Ceballos has been a bit crap this season, but id commit to giving him a run of games as he has more upside when he's at his best

forget his upside (now i see what happens with our players when we loan them). there is no point to persisting with his flaky play in the hopes that he comes good for real madrid in the future. i thought he would have built on the restart and continue the good form into this season, but i guess he is what he is.

This is an issue alright. If he isn't killing it why bother playing him instead of players we can either improve or get value from in future? Or if we intend on keeping maybe start negotiating with Real while he's being shit.

The upside is you have a player that is actually good enough in your team. Would be worth a lot more than adding a couple of million onto Elnenys value while we finish 17th.

It says a lot that his best spell for us was recognised for his defensive work and "hustle" much more so than any special quality on the ball.

If we followed that logic we’d probably have not won the FA Cup. I think the moment you loan a player you count him as yours and get the best possible team out on the pitch, what happens next summer is another matter.

Weird as hell to be shitting on Ceballos and Elneny when we have much bigger problems. Some of the revision on Ceballos especially is just lazy given that he was actually pretty decent past 2 matches.

Has tested positive for covid-19. Was always worried about players leaving the Uefa bubbles. I mean bloody Salah was in a very festive party with all kinds of strangers. Egyptian team should’ve never allowed that. Or it would’ve been conditional with a quarantine.

Mid-summer Ceballos would be great actually. He was our best player with Aubameyang during that period. Definitely do not want Xhaka.
It does make wonder that when Arteta was busy picking lots of players to sideline and exile, he chose to keep these 2 central to his plans. I hate these players. Probably even more than Barca-bound Mustafi.
