Have to disagree here. Brandt is outrageously talented but ridiculously inconsistent. I'd say he looks piss poor 40% of the time, very good 40% of the time, great 15% and 1 in 20 he pulls a Messi level performance out his arse. His technique and vision is a full three tiers above Ramseys average.
His best position is probably as the most attacking #8 in a 4-3-3. I agree he's a weird player in general though, doesn't fit any clear category but he's young enough to try and find him some consistency. Definitely not happening under a novice like Arteta though.
That's the only thing I'd dispute, but then again I did always rate Ramsey's vision, am probably biased as an Arsenal fan in general when it comes to him and I vividly remember a lot of loose touches from Brandt in midfield, especially when he was noticeably tired, that directly led to goals against Dortmund.
I will say though, before Dortmund bought Can and Favre removed Brandt from central midfield last season, he had a ridiculous spell of games, regularly beating one or two men in midfield, creating space, always playing dangerous passes and scoring some outrageous goals and I feel he's been a little hard done by ever since, never getting a consistent run of games, always being played in a different position and having to play in a Dortmund team that I personally feel has been pretty bad at attacking in general for a while now, often being bailed out by individual class.
So I definitely wouldn't mind us taking a punt on him, he would come relatively cheap too I imagine and he absolutely has all the talent in the world. Also seems like a decent and smart enough guy from interviews. I do agree that Arteta probably wouldn't get the best out of him though.
While we're talking Dortmund players I'd absolutely love to have Reyna and Guerreiro here, the latter especially has been flying a little under the radar for how good he's been pretty much ever since he came to the Bundesliga and the goal he assisted for Reyna in the game against Stuttgart was probably my favourite of the season so far, incredible pass and insane finish from Reyna.
