Agreed, actually.
There was a bleak irony in this possibly falling through at the last minute, but the spectacle of trying to "reintegrate" him would've been awful, and shifting his contract out of our list of concerns this way is far better than some alternatives, like having to deal with the situation all over again in summer.
I'm sad that a player who's been a great servant of the club, got us an FA Cup, and has been a joyous spirit and scored goals aplenty has fallen out with our seemingly intransigent manager, but moving on quickly is good. I don't have a problem with the overall acceleration of change we're experiencing, even if the trajectory remains unclear.
I have no doubt if we fare poorly over the rest of the season this situation will be dissected again and again. Perhaps there will even be public statements from Auba about his treatment. But that's a lot better than Özil giving us the finger while off on holiday.
