How many pen misses, sitters and preventing teammates from scoring has he done since the summer? The guy has probably been late more times than he’s scored goals for us. How do you explain the fiasco with Gabon as well?

I love Auba but he's been substandard in every sense for the past 18 months and it's become evident that he suits our style as much as we suit his. We had a record goal scoring month in December without him.

We played the worst teams in the league plus fucking Sunderland in December. We still played two of the worst teams in England in January and couldn't score a single goal against them.

Auba might not be the ideal answer in the kind of form he's in but it's an atrocious decision to willfully discard assets like that. Not like it makes any difference anyway to be fair, if anyone could see Arteta reigniting some form in Auba I have a bridge to sell to them.

The cheek on you to say that when he literally save Arteta's job and won him the FA Cup. You lived off the FA cup win for more than 12 months too on a manager that can't even depreciate because he had no value to begin with.

Yes but that was 18 months ago. Does Arteta still live on that credit? No. So neither should Auba. At least since last season we have improved and are on a upward trajectory, can you say the same about Auba? But upward trajectory also needs to have results attached to it.

And I said if Arteta doesn’t get top 4 this year I wouldn’t extend his contract. So this notion that I love him (Jones) is untrue. It’s a results based business for everyone.

And we scored more goals in a single month than at any time since the 1960s or whatever it was. We also scored 6 goals in 3 against West Ham, Southampton and City - so not just the duds.

Without really knowing the facts I'm not really a fan of Auba's banishment either nor the emerging pattern. But it's a red herring, we're not missing much and as you say yourself, Arteta isn't going to get anything out of him with our style.

What has Arteta done aside from that FA Cup exactly? How is he not living on that credit? Is there a single good record he has broken during his time here? If so, name one! All the ones I can think of are the kind of records you wouldn't want on your CV such as worst league finish, both in terms of points and position, in 30 years; longest dry spell where we couldn't score a goal; least goals scored across a season; least chances created since statistics started to be recorded, first manager to take us out of Europe entirely, etc.

We had a short spell of good form. Not sure what record you're referring to but you can't really complain about red herrings then post some stuff about having scored more than any other month since the 60s, we looked a bit better than before but anyone who thought this was a breakthrough under Arteta and we'd continue to see the goals flowing was ridiculously naive. He has zero conviction in our attacking play because he himself probably knows he's a fraud, always safety first, less movement in attack and midfield means fewer goals but more structure in defence when a misplaced pass leads to a counter. Either some of our players hit a good run of form (Auba in 19/20, ESR around a year ago, Saka at points in between or Martinelli last December) or we get to watch turgid gutless soul wrenching "football".

We will see at the end of this season.

But the fact that we are in a top 4 race after 21 games played is definitely a positive.

I get there are concerns but there are enough ‘green shoots’ for me this season.

If Arteta does a Emery 2019 and fucks up the end of the season ie race for top 4 I will be the first one to have a go don’t worry.

I'd like to have Auba on the bench than not, but if we can shift his wages and get someone else in it's a no brainer. The funny thing is he wouldn't have even been available for these games anyway if he wasn't banished by Gabon.

There's nothing wrong with changing your view according to how you see it, I thought Xhaka Ceballos and Mustafi would become good because I saw a much higher ceiling at their previous clubs. I still don't think you responded even once what exactly you see in Arteta other than "he's our current coach that means we have to back him"

Completely agree with this. Auba doesn't take football as seriously as other players, that's not a secret, but he's still by far the best and most accomplished goalscorer we have in the squad. As a manager it's your job to manage the personalities of the squad as well and if one of your best players happens to be an easygoing guy like Auba, you find a way to compromise and motivate him to be the best player he can be instead of punishing him for every little indiscretion and telling the media about it at the first opportunity. Because not only is it a dick move, you're also alienating the one guy in the squad who can score 20 league goals. People who don't like him will convince themselves he is in decline, but there's no physical signs that suggest that at all, I think he's unhappy with Arteta, Arteta's unhappy with him and it's affecting Auba's game as well as Arteta's job. Nobody wins.

Would also just add that even though there are strong indications that Aubameyang may not apply himself seriously in general, I think the workrate has not been an issue in any of the 21/22 appearances.

I wouldn't really give a shit even if that ridiculous claim were true, guy's scored 90 goals for us. Lacazette has probably never been late, but how many goals does he have to his name? I know who I'd rather have available as a manager.

Would I want peak Auba over current Laca? Yes. Problem is this is not peak Auba!!! Auba doesn’t have his goals to cancel out shit performances anymore.

Laca for all his faults is the anti-Auba from a professional standpoint, you can never question his desire, determination and leadership. He’s a manager’s dream in that sense. He’s reliable which is something Auba is not. At least Laca gives it his all and has been a warrior at times for us.

Laca is worth his weight in gold and when he leaves will remembered fondly by most Arsenal fans but it’s clear we need to upgrade
