Yeah, he was missing crucial chances, but I don't know how much you can really blame him for that, it's not like he's not trying to score. And he's never been super clinical, he was always the kind of striker who got his goals because he got a lot of chances, his FA Cup run was the exception even when he was in good form. And in our system, the striker's feeding off scraps. I'd love to see a motivated Auba come into the side now that Odegaard seems to have settled in completely, his movement is among the best in the world when he's on it and Odegaard's the kind of guy who would see every single run Auba makes.

There's nothing wrong with changing your view according to how you see it, I thought Xhaka Ceballos and Mustafi would become good because I saw a much higher ceiling at their previous clubs. We've covered that too, I think you said he's not a technical director.

My tune hasn't really changed at any point, I think Arteta gives us a good chance of building a well balanced, competitive squad capable of winning things. Ideally I'd like to allow him to follow it through but results/performances need to stay within an arbitrary threshold - one which he's often exceeded, hence the flip flopping.

Laca for all his faults is the anti-Auba from a professional standpoint, you can never question his desire, determination and leadership. He’s a manager’s dream in that sense. He’s reliable which is something Auba is not. At least Laca gives it his all and has been a warrior at times for us.

Laca is worth his weight in gold and when he leaves will remembered fondly by most Arsenal fans but it’s clear we need to upgrade

Even during Emery's time here when Auba was banging them in with you still hating that he's not a big player or whatever shows that you just like being contrarian for the sake of it. You'd have taken Laca over Auba even those days, but whatever.

I'm one of those who actually likes Laca but what you said is hyperbole to the next level. Weight in gold? And will be remembered fondly by Arsenal fans but you think Auba won't? After the guy won us the FA Cup single handedly and who's goals were one of the few bright spots we've had the last few years.

I would take peak Laca over peak Auba overall.

Ppl forget how good Laca was for Lyon. He also won our player of the season in 18/19 over Auba too.

We are 2 points from top 4 with a game in hand. That means he’s done well to this point no?

Obviously if we finish 8th in May then that’s another discussion hence I said wait till then.

Man, he won the FA cup not the Champions League. Only so much credit you get with that.

The board clearly believe in him and the ‘long term vision’ with him in charge.

Right now his credit is that we are fighting for top 4, couldn’t be any more simpler unless I repeat myself.

It’s just amazing how Arteta treats any player he isn’t happy with like they’re a troubled Balotelli, and tries to ship them off. When do you actually manage a situation? Some of us probably work in organizations where not all our subordinates or coworkers get along. Do we just fire or freeze out all the ones that we don’t like, or try to do what we can to get them performing at their best again? When do the fingers of blame start pointing inwards rather than out? I think if I’m a footballer that is considering joining Arsenal, this is one of the factors at play. How does the manager manage a difficult situation or player? If this NK style draconian measure is what I’m to expect, I think I’ll just stay in lovely Marseille or wherever and enjoy my life and my football.

I deeply dislike the way this is developing. We may never know exactly what went on behind the scenes, but the efforts to replace Auba look like fantasy planning so far.

Feels like if we don't get out of this cleanly over the next few days, or at least sign a gamechanger, it'll curse our season.

I don't think Auba didn't want to join or is going on strike, in fact the opposite was reported. What I'm suggesting could have happened is that Auba said he wants to leave in Jan if an offer comes up, so going off to Dubai with a few days left in the transfer window wouldn't make much sense for anyone.

By the way I don't really give a shit who was wrong or right out of Arteta and Auba. Conflicts happen. What's disappointing to me is more that we seem to have spent the window so far pissing up trees without an achievable plan.

I'd agree if there was a fight between two players, not when one is the boss of the other and can literally terminate his contract. Flopaba said it already how are you supposed to call yourself manager when all you're managing is to fire or banish everyone you butt heads with?
