that's for the best. the content gets stretched thin when it's weekly. I was worried they'd burn out last season as it seemed they were contractually obligated to put on a weekly show. still the best arsenal pod out there by far. most of the milennial/gen z driven ones are too aftv-esque. or I might just be a boomer at heart so TC appeals more. I remember getting a kick out of those very early ones when they would just call their listeners freeloading scum instead of doing the whole desperate 'drive engagement, smash that like button, tune into our 5 other podcasts' schtick. and they could've monetised the shit out of TC if they were inclined to. those early pods were drawing in a tonne of listeners

I find Arsecast extra the most cathartic. It isn't sensationalistic, it's structured and is a conversation between two relatively reasonable minded people.

TC is a bit more comic relief, but you have to put up with more nonsensical views from time to time and the jokes/stories go off on a little too much of a tangent at times. The lack of regularity (not weekly but some sort of schedule) also makes it hard to get into.

I can't listen to anything else, Handbreak Off should be the perfect mix between the two (there's lots of crossover) but it doesn't work for me at all. You could lose 5-0 to City and they'd spend the first 30 mins talking about the 90s.

I listen to Handbrake off but it was way better when Dixon was on it. Now its just them all agreeing things are bad but Arteta will sort it out. Very boring, needs more diversity of opinion. At least on Arsecast Andrew will mildly question James.

Gunnerblog is one of the most reasonable and measured fan/pundit/journalist in the world of Arsenal media.

And for what it's worth, I don't think he's wrong here, I just don't really care. I hate the Arteta (or Wenger) in or out stuff - I think it's reductive and I refuse to participate. I can't really be doing with the whole my side versus your side shit that goes on here and Gunnerblog is tapping into there.

I think what I think and it changes and develops all the time. I think Arteta is a far better manager than he has been given credit for thus far, and that now seems to be changing, but let's see what happens and how it all plays out.

They get to be right / wrong when / if he delivers results at the end of the season. People get caught up on good / bad form but the only thing that matters is if Arteta delivers CL football for next season. Realistically Kroenke was never going sack him mid season after giving him 150m to spend in the summer.

You don't think he's wrong and at the same time you hate the Arteta in or out stuff?
I don't criticise him for standing by his position even if I think he's extremely wrong of course, I ridicule the statement "if you thought Arteta should stay after losing the first three games you were right". There's so much wrong in that sentence it doesn't even deserve discussion.

For what it's worth I don't read his blog or any other Arsenal blog, what little I've seen of his tweets is a pretty self centred bloke. Also he writes for the Athletic

I appreciate that it can be annoying to read "constant negativity" about Arteta and our outlook, I don't think any Arsenal fan (at least not here) revels in it for what it's worth. It's at least equally annoying for others however to see the constant shifting of goalposts, rewriting of history, cheap trolling or blaming the squad or calling them outright shit despite them having done a lot more for the club than the manager.

Nope, I have listened to Arseblog off and on for a long time, and he's a good guy, a proper Arsenal fan, and really, really knows his football. You're missing out if you're not listening to it.

And I refuse to be part of a side - I can't stand that shit as I say - but the hysteria around Arteta earlier this season was a bit much. Talk of relegation, worst starts in history, but devoid of context - I'm not saying it's all good now, but hopefully everyone's positions and opinions are evolving with the changing fortunes.

I don't thi k it's such a bad thing to point that out, although I wouldn't waste my time doing it, but it's good to have your positions questioned and to reflect on them. Right now, with the team constantly developing and our football evolving, Arteta is giving us all plenty to think about.

James backed Emery right until the moment he was sacked too, and Wenger. He's just not someone who is ever going to call for a managers sacking by the looks of it. He also despises Auba for some reason, feels personal. Lost all my respect when he wrote that thing about the car and not doing the warm down. Absolutely more toxic and cravenly self serving than anything I've seen or heard anyone on AFTV do (admittedly I listen to more Arseblog and James than AFTV).

In my opinion James is also tragically naive. He was blown away when he started working at the Athletic that whats reported as a "transfer bid" isn't usually an official bid but just 2 clubs discussing a number.

I couldn't disagree more really. I think he's very switched on and I don't see him as ever pushing agendas. He comes across as extremely fair minded, to the point that he fence sits a little too much for my liking sometimes. Although, he has criticised Arteta plenty in the last 6 months or so when I've listened.

All that said, I think he's a genuinely good guy and knows his football/Arsenal. He and Andrew (I think that's Arseblog's name?) are a good listen.
