First Tuesday Club for the season has just come out today. Should be fun.
Haven't listened to Arseblog or any others so far this season as haven't had the energy to revisit the games.

James basically had a bit of a breakdown on Arseblogs podcast yesterday, trying to twist himself into knots explaining why everyone is wrong to want Arteta out.

I like James but he's a bit of a contrarian. It's one thing trying to take the emotion out of the thought process but you can't just assume the emotional reaction is automatically the wrong one.

He's just one of these people who never wants to sack the manager, was the same with Emery and Wenger. And he and Andrew seemed really invested in Arteta, pretty much from the first time he was linked with the job. I think he's just scrambling for reasons to keep supporting Arteta.

I don't understand it though. The attachment with Wenger was understandable but what is it with Arteta? The players that don't work out are talked of with such disdain, but Arteta somehow despite displaying ineptitude still inspires some belief. At present, I see no redeeming quality with him. If he turns it around it might become the biggest story in the history of this club.

Tuesday club say that they can't stomach putting out content every week as long as we're this shit (which is fair enough) so it'll be a monthly or fortnightly thing at best.

that's for the best. the content gets stretched thin when it's weekly. I was worried they'd burn out last season as it seemed they were contractually obligated to put on a weekly show. still the best arsenal pod out there by far. most of the milennial/gen z driven ones are too aftv-esque. or I might just be a boomer at heart so TC appeals more. I remember getting a kick out of those very early ones when they would just call their listeners freeloading scum instead of doing the whole desperate 'drive engagement, smash that like button, tune into our 5 other podcasts' schtick. and they could've monetised the shit out of TC if they were inclined to. those early pods were drawing in a tonne of listeners

I find Arsecast extra the most cathartic. It isn't sensationalistic, it's structured and is a conversation between two relatively reasonable minded people.

TC is a bit more comic relief, but you have to put up with more nonsensical views from time to time and the jokes/stories go off on a little too much of a tangent at times. The lack of regularity (not weekly but some sort of schedule) also makes it hard to get into.

I can't listen to anything else, Handbreak Off should be the perfect mix between the two (there's lots of crossover) but it doesn't work for me at all. You could lose 5-0 to City and they'd spend the first 30 mins talking about the 90s.

I listen to Handbrake off but it was way better when Dixon was on it. Now its just them all agreeing things are bad but Arteta will sort it out. Very boring, needs more diversity of opinion. At least on Arsecast Andrew will mildly question James.

I'm not a podcast type person anyway but what you've described is the most depressing and at the same time dull pastime I've ever heard in my life.

I actually cringed several times, especially at the bit where he refused to discussed other questions because he sensed he was obviously coming off a little desperate.

To be fair I get my dose of sensationalism, chaos and unhinged content from your posts so they sort of balance each other out.

Gunnerblog is one of the most reasonable and measured fan/pundit/journalist in the world of Arsenal media.

And for what it's worth, I don't think he's wrong here, I just don't really care. I hate the Arteta (or Wenger) in or out stuff - I think it's reductive and I refuse to participate. I can't really be doing with the whole my side versus your side shit that goes on here and Gunnerblog is tapping into there.

I think what I think and it changes and develops all the time. I think Arteta is a far better manager than he has been given credit for thus far, and that now seems to be changing, but let's see what happens and how it all plays out.

They get to be right / wrong when / if he delivers results at the end of the season. People get caught up on good / bad form but the only thing that matters is if Arteta delivers CL football for next season. Realistically Kroenke was never going sack him mid season after giving him 150m to spend in the summer.
