In La Liga, unlike PL, you could watch the second half of the season still not knowing who would win it.

Loan plus option is the rumour pushed by all papers. We will get something I would think, but as you said, nothing about the fee. We have to wait for Héctor Herrera (who ever he is) to leave before this happens. No worries, we have time 😆 .

The only way we get rid off Papa is on a free.

If we allow Torreira to go there, and do not get Partey in, it is a massive failure by Edu.

Because we have a bid in hand, or so people like to say, from Torino - so why would we loan Torreira to Atl. if we weren't getting anything in return? Just to get his wages for the season off the books? We need to move him on permanently if he has no future, not be in the same situation next season if they don't pick up an option on him. If they don't pick up the option, that means he didnt perform well, and his price will be even lower next summer.

What? What if they aren't interested in selling Partey? We want to get rid of Torreira. They want Torreira. Torreira would like to move. That sounds to me like you have all the ingredients of a transaction. Just need to sort out the details amongst all the parties.

Do they even want to sell Partey? And if they do how far below the anchor value they've established are they willing to go?

Well, we don't really know if they want to sell Partey or not. But the point is, would you rather loan Torreira out and have to deal with the same thing next summer, or sell him outright to a club willing to pay cash for him (again, according to reports) and be done with it? I'd rather take the cash and move on

It would show we are weak, if we cannot get what we want from the very team that's happy to take one of our few midfielders, and only on loan to boot. Shouldn't deal with them at all.

Anyway none of us know what's going on. I'm still optimistic about our T Partey.

The point is this - we can treat the Torreira and Partey transactions as two separate transactions or related transactions.
When the summer began, we needed to get rid of Torreira. If we are able to do that, then we should.
If, in addition, both Atletico and Partey are willing to do a deal for Partey, then it would be advantageous to leverage Torreira on that front. But we should not walk away from a Torreira sale simply because it does not involve Partey.
Also, consider our alternatives. If our summer objective was to move Torreira and a loan + purchase was our least acceptable outcome for him, then this what is being put in front of us. If no other team is offering better, then we should take it.
The key thing in all of this is having a very clear understanding of what our objectives were at the outset of the summer - the maximum and minimum we hoped to achieve on sales, and the corresponding transfers in.

Yeah, so this is done.

Uruguay assistant coach said he talked to Torreira and it's very close. Ok guys, by all reports it looks like we won't sell enough, or at the price we had in mind to get 2 expensive CM. It is public knowledge by now that the main targets were Partey & Aouar. We will only get one. Who do we want, who do we need most, who should we get?

I for one think it will be Aouar, beacuse we can do an instalments type deal, and his wages will be lower then what Partey is asking. At the same time I think we need Partey more, but what can you do? Maybe we will try late in the window to get a cheap deal done on some athletic DM?

I would take Aouar (or a similar profile player) + a cheaper alternative for Partey (Soumare/Sangare/whoever).
