That's what I think too. I doubt it's Arteta who's shopping Bellerin around. This was probably instigated by his agent, perhaps when it became clear that the club's position on AMN had changed.

So the Bellerin links have been all over, The Guardian, The Telegraph & Orny. Not gonna post them all as they all say the same thing, 25 mil + 5 mil in add ons. We want more, he is willing to go if we can strike a deal. I would be sad to see him go, as he is a great guy to have in the team, also I think his lvl of play has been going up now for a while...but if we do get more then the 30, if we get close to 40 and we can get Partey...yeah we should do it.

We might be stuck with him. I mean the SO4 transfer is not really ok, as we get a small loan fee and have to pay some wages, Leverkusen would be better as we would get cash and move on. But...I don't think Leverkusen want him, they just got a lot of money now from sales and they will be linked with everybody.

Not a fan of this...but if it comes down to it, I think we would do it, just to get rid of his wages. Still, they are gonna sell Koulibaly for 80 million...and can't fucking pay 5 million for him? I hate italian clubs.

Can't blame them, look at how English clubs operate in the market. The rest of Europe hates the PL for ruining transfer fees for everyone else

Was looking back at the community shield and saw Kolasinac\Bellerin barely being interested in celebrating. Wonder if they knew they will be leaving.

In a fair market wages excluded Bellerin is easily worth 40m and Kolasinac at least 15m. As a LWB outlet he is brilliant and at a good age too. People don't look at defending for wingbacks, just see how popular Kolarov is all these years.

I just saw the 10 minute highlight clip yesterday and both were celebrating plenty. Not sure anyone would be put off celebrating a trophy even if they had a contract signed with another club already anyway

Problem is his wages. He’s probs a 60-70k player on a £140k a week or whatever it allegedly is.

If we are selling Ainsley I wouldn’t be opposed to keeping Kola. We need some full back cover so if we’re not getting a fee I don’t see the point. But it seems like he’s pushing for a move back so he’s probably gone.

The claim was 120k and even that is extremely unrealistic. Probably on 70k-80k, not many offers and his Arsenal contract is his second or third overall contract in his career, no way anyone would offer that much

My thought too. Tierney has a history of being injury prone. Saka is not a full back. Nor is Kolasinac by the way but he has experience. If we move to 4 at the back and AMN/ Bellerin leave then we need full back cover.

Newspapers keep tossing his sign on fee into his weekly wage. I’m sure we would do a pray out of the balance of the sign on if he left. What a disappointing signing. Thought he’d do something coming off a Bundesliga team of the season year.

He was our best player for a good four months or so in his first season. Got injured and fizzled out afterwards, don't think he's been all that bad either although his form last season especially after playing in the back three was really poor. If we can get a good fee definitely sell, but he's better than what he's showing now

Saka as LB cover is not ideal as it would mean that most of his games would come there because he'd have to play all cup games there etc. and consequently not really have a chance to develop further up the pitch. Add that to the fact that Tierney doesn't have the best injury record leaves us short I reckon.

Are there any cheap LB fillers out there? Or maybe someone with potential in the academy to step up as permanent second choice?

Maybe Osei-Tutu as RWB backup and Cedric as LWB backup?

Osei-Tutu is in Cardiff.
We have 4 players who can play LWB. It shouldn’t be a problem. It looks like an issue when you lost out positions because 3 of the players are deployed elsewhere, but only 2 will definitely start in Tierney and AMN. Cedric and Saka can also fill in

That's true if we play with 3 central defenders. If we revert to a 4 man backline, it changes the equation.

I mean we should be able to survive, but it just means you're a medium-long term injury away from being in a really precarious situation, one which potentially weakens other areas of the pitch.

3 bodies for 2 positions is fair if the first choice individuals are known to be robust. I am just worried about Tierney's history is all and while Saka at wing back is fine, I really don't think he should be playing a sustained period at full back.

I agree, it's a risk yes, but it's probably worth it and we can improvise something even in worst case scenario. But the upside might be we get the money to revamp the middle of the pitch - our main issue. We can actually get high lvl talent in the middle with money from this. Just go one season with this, even if it means playing Saka there(I agree here as well, that it's not good long term for him to keep playing 4-5 position every year)and then bring in a new left-back cover next summer.
