It's like some poor attempt at a stylish re-make of "The Talented Mr. Ripley" with a particularly gross main character.

I watched "Killers of the Flower Moon" the other day too and that was thoroughly underwhelming. Honestly that same story could have easily been told in 2hrs without losing anything. Also disappointing that in three hours it didn't really have much to say from the perspective of the Osage themselves.

Daz Yeah it definitely had those Highsmith vibes but without any of the sympathetic traits or anything to match Jude Law's charisma in that old Matt Damon film. Barry Keoghan was a mess, he keeps landing these sorts of obnoxious, incoherent roles.

Daz saw the 3 1/2 hour run time and opted against it. It’s indulgent of directors to think that audiences want to sit through movies that long. After 2 hours I start getting agitated. Wrap it the fuck up. And now you’re telling me you still have a whole other movie remaining?

KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON was a bit of a "nothing film" in retrospect, but I found it creditable.

The main issue I take with it is that Marty Scorsese fundamentally loves Uncle Sam, so his critique of his nation's post-colonial violence is never gonna be unqualified, is it now?

The Creator was passable fare I thought. The problem with it was the pretense of being a film you needed to think about but with plot holes you needed to throw your brain in the bin for.

I thought POOR THINGS was really good. Genuinely shocking concept at its core, but more tender and humane than Lanthimos's other films.

As for Creator, I read so many reviews hyping it up. But it was just passable.

Burnwinter yep we saw Poor Things on the weekend and loved it. Really interesting story telling and film making. The use of fish eye lenses worked well for me; the costumes were great; performances from Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe and Mark Ruffalo were top notch; and the story (based on a novel) is weird and wonderful and topical.

Found myself laughing out loud and also feeling a bit shocked on several occasions.

Can recommend. We saw it with our adult daughters, which was a bit weird at first . If you see it you'll understand.

Gozilla Minus One is excellent.

I actually quite enjoy the Monsterverse franchise as light entertainment, but thought this version really showed it up.

Just watched Anatomy of a Fall and I really liked it. Seems like a classic whodunit/courtroom drama but so much more. Guilt or innocence does not even matter by the end

Just watched The Kitchen featuring the Mighty Wrighty! Really liked the premise and the execution was pretty good overall I thought. Worth a watch.
