RocktheCasbah Bigger ground, more fans, more trophies - so what if Chelsea had an oligarch fuelled golden period?
Thats the thing, though.. They DID have that period, and it brought them several trophies, and world recognition, and they have been capitalizing on that since. Currently, outside of the core fanbase of Arsenal, we are a punchline. "Netflix FC" or "Excuses FC", etc.
And IMO, no, more shirts in London doesn't mean anything. The world is bigger than London. Obviously the real Arsenal fans know we have a much richer history and historically have been the much bigger club.. But no one truly fears us because we haven't won anything major in the past 20 years.
Im not a doom and gloom person when it comes to the club/team.. But there does come a time where we need to put up or shut up. The feel good factor of "we're building a project" will wear off soon, and we will slip back to just below top tier. We've attracted some top top players, and we are a destination club at the moment, not a stepping stone club. But with that label comes the need for real results. I hate sounding like some of the other people here, but its unfortunately the truth. Our time is now, and our window will not stay open forever. We need to strike while the iron is hot.
