Sterling isn't the right profile of player anyway. Going to be 27 soon and he's been playing PL football since the age of 17, reckon he's on coarse for a big drop in levels in the next season or two. Last thing we need is someone like that on £300k+ a week.
He's a brilliant player, still underrated, who'd raise our level but as you say his wages are too dear, he's got a lot of miles in his legs and most of all its not where we need a new player.
Sterling is highly erratic. When he's on it he's World class but he goes through too many dry patches to be of value to a team like us. City can afford him fucking 15 chances up in a row because they produce as many per half, if he played like that here and we lost a couple because of it his confidence would be shattered and he'd be a shell of the player he is now in no time.
He won't come here. Guaranteed.

I think Artetaball would be a disaster for Sterling too, he wouldn't get nearly as many chances
