Kind of sad that there wasn't really a formation to get the best out of Santi, Ramsey and Özil. To get the best out of Özil you needed to play him at CAM and Santi and Ramsey couldn't play together in a pair. The only formation I can think about is the narrow 4-1-2-1-2 everyone's using on FIFA and off the top of my head I can't think of examples where that one has worked to great effect in real life.

Its because the summer we signed Ozil we desperately needed a striker. We were fine at AM but we'd missed out on Suarez, fucked up Higuain and ended up taking Ozil instead. He was better than our best AM but not needed. Its the sort of mistake you make in a video game because theres a big star available but we did it in real life.

To play both Rambo and Santi together you needed a 4-4-2 diamond or a 4-2-2-2 which Wenger would never play and we never had 2 strikers/forwards to fill until we got Auba.

Anyway FWIW, a lot of reports in Italy that Juventus wants to get rid of Ramsey and Liverpool is interested. Romano says no contact yet with Liverpool and Ramsey

Rambo's problem are his wages. Pirlo likes him but they can no longer afford the silly money.

it does matter, cos even Ronaldo banging in 30 goals a season is still a huge problem for them cos of his wages.

We, Ronaldo is on outsize wages that a juventus were irresponsible to take on. Bournemouth probably don’t pay their entire starting 11 that much

Appreciate things seem dire at the mo but I genuinely believe it won’t take much to get us performing at a higher level on a more consistent basis.

We’ve been linked to some pretty decent players.

Incomings like Odegaard plus say Solomon or Buendia, Bissouma, Lamptey or Hakimi, and Tyrell Malacia will get us there.

Dula, I never answered you on Non-expendables. I think your list was spot on. Maybe add Saliba to it. But basically that’s it Gabriel, Tierney, Partey, Saka, ESR, Martinelli.
Everyone else can be moved as far as I’m concerned. Something has to happen with Pépé, Laca and Auba. Basically we have 3 forwards who don’t mesh together. And we need to cut that number down to 1 or 2.

As for your additions, agree that for a top 4 chase a Hakimi/Aarons and a Soumare will go a long way. I prefer Soumare over Bissouma. We really missed Xhaka’s passing vs Liverpool. Bissouma is just a rogue. We need a 2 way mid.

Yeah, I meant we're looking for a better version of Xhaka. Everything points to us looking for that kind of player though.

Both Jorginho and Gonçalves are tiny though, I wonder if Arteta will be willing to sacrifice the height, we already have quite a small team even with Xhaka in there.
