This Jorginho talk needs to end.

There's only talk of a Jorginho type. Like Dules said, we were after Jorginho in the summer so it'd make sense if the CM we're after this summer is similar.

The fact is this board complains about Xhaka every week. Xhaka is a better distributor than Jorginho who is just as slow as our former captain. Xhaka is a better offensive player, Jorginho a better defensive player but by no means a stopper. I don’t see the sense in replacing Xhaka with an age-mate who is slightly better defensively and slightly inferior offensively. It’s a real running on the spot move

Your protest was clearly not in general to a player with similar qualities, you even used "age-mate" in your argument.

Anyway, in another thread talking with MD about how we need more athleticism in the middle. You saw Ceballos get overrun yesterday. We need athletic 2 way players. Ideally good on the ball like Partey

and/or a 3 man midfield as in a 433, OR we play with 2 DMs and 2 AMs as in a 4222

I am not sure if you inadvertently have it the other way around. Xhaka has nothing on Jorginho on the ball, nothing. Xhaka is way better with his defensive positioning and there is nothing between them when it comes to duels. But on the ball there's just no comparison. Stats may say whatever.

No I don’t have it the other way round. Xhaka is an elite passer. He’s just lumbering and slow on the release, but he is one of the best passers in this league. I think sometimes we bring our emotions into our judgment of the man, but that is what he is. Just watch our games and see him hitting people at different distances. There’s tons of data to back this up as well.

I watch. I only watch. I am not a Xhaka hater. I keep recognizing his strengths. Jorginho is better on the ball is what I am saying. Also, Jorginho is not better defensively. I think Xhaka's defensive nous is overlooked. He is limited athletically and thus can look poor in situations. Anyhow, I wouldn't want Jorginho here either.

Btw, I agree Jorginho is better on the ball. Close control etc.

Being quick on the release is a big part of being an elite passer though. If you need as much time as Xhaka to get those passes right, you're simply not. The data only backs up that he gets the passes right when he finally does make them, but doesn't say anything about them being too late because that's hard to define. Nobody's saying that the stats are wrong, only that your conclusion from them is.

Yep, that's a very good point. Wenger used to say the best midfielders take only a split second to pass and spot a player.

The players that need a lot of touches and time before being able to pass are an indictment of an average player.
