I don't want to think too much about him until and unless he's signs that new contract, but Balogun is potentially the profile of striker you're talking about. If he's staying, I think he'll be given a lot more minutes. It would obviously be a process to get him to where we need, but his outings so far suggest he's well worth it.

At this point I suspect he's more the heir to Neymar / CR7 as LWF.
IMO he's definitely not a winger - inverted or otherwise, and certainly not a wide playmaker.

I'd try to get loans for Saliba, Willock, Nelson and Balogun, if the kid signs da ting, that is! And get rid of those that have zero utility: Kolasinac was a great start, Mustafi next, Cedric too, now that the Europa has gotten serious, Sokratis looks to be close to leaving, Luiz if he really has fallen out with Arteta, Özil by hook or by crook, and Willian if there's money on offer from the MLS or elsewhere. If terminating Ceballos' loan early means we can sign another midfielder then do that too, because he has been largely without use too.

In the summer I'd like to see the club look at David Raya from Brentford, if he is as good with his feet as has been reported and that is going to be an important quality for the keeper to have in the team Arteta's trying to build - Leno's distribution is solid but severely lacking in imagination and urgency, and I don't think he will improve upon it.

I'd sell one of Chambers or Holding, depending on who can generate the most money. Bellerin would be gone in a heartbeat if a good offer comes in. Maitland-Niles either takes the right back spot by summer time or he has to go if a club wants to pay us decent money for him, and I'm sure a PL club will.

Elneny and Xhaka have to go this summer, especially the latter because he sees so many minutes and will not react well to Partey displacing him in midfield.

Lacazette should be moved on in the summer too. He'll have a year left, will be 30 years old, and could still generate a decent sum. I'd sell Nketiah too because I think a club will pay us a good sum for him and I think Balogun is the bigger talent.

And the big call would be to cut our losses with Pépé. I like him and he clearly has tons of ability, but he's just not progressing and has instead become a far worse player in Arteta's more tactically demanding system. If a club out there would pay _£40m for him, I'd take it. Saka has been a level above him for the whole season.

I like it Tricky. Bissouma would be a smart addition as he can partner Partey or give us powerful quality when Partey isn’t available.

If it came down to it I’d make him my only signing this window

Really like the look of Bissouma. Exactly the sort of player our midfield has been missing for years. How similar his profile is to Partey’s doesn’t concern me one bit.

He wouldn’t be my priority for the window, but if we can snap him up for anything under 20 mill then I think we should be all over it. No idea what Brighton would be looking for, though.

I really like the look of Bissouma too. I thought he was the man of the match by a long distance against us the other night.

I don't know if he'll be available in January, but he would probably be a good target for the summer. It's pure speculation, but I have a hard time seeing him cost north of 30 million. It doesn't feel like Brighton could turn down that kind of money.

Having watched more of him he looks quality. Almost Parteyesque in his style. My only memory from him other than the last couple games was his game against us and back in that game (maybe it's because I was pissed at the Leno injury and the result) but he looked like a clogger who should have been sent off 10 times in that game.

OMG I had completely forgotten about his performance in that game for much the same reasons.
EDIT - Question being is that performance indicative of him if tasked as the deepest/defensive CM?

I don’t think Partey and Bissouma midfield partnership would work. They’re too similar and it would lack creativity and control.

you'd have to offset it by having a creative hard working number 10, and a front 3 that can score and create in equal measure. the most recent team I can think of that made this work at a high level was monaco with fabinho and bakayoko as double pivots, bernado in front of them, and a front 3 of lemar, falcao and mbappe. the front 4 needs dynamism and synergy set to 100

Sabitzer and Partey. I think that would work. Sabitzer is 5’11”, strong and a tireless worker. He would give us the industry and goals from midfield. It would be a much more progressive midfield than we’ve had in recent year so, but I think that’s what we need to fully realise Tikka Teta.
