Title should probably be changed. The deal has fallen through according to the papers (thankfully).

Sounds like wishful thinking alright.
Was looking for something completely unrelated and stumbled over this from August 2015:
Enjoy him while you can because Ainsley Maitland-Niles is heading for the very top. That’s the message from Ipswich Town boss Mick McCarthy to Blues fans after the 17-year-old Arsenal loanee’s exciting start to life at Portman Road. The teenage winger – who’s in Suffolk for the season and can’t be recalled – produced a man-of-the-match performance in Tuesday night’s 2-0 home win over newly-relegated Burnley. Quick, tricky and classy on the ball, Maitland-Niles has also worked his socks off and been both unselfish and brave out of possession. “He’s an outstanding player,” enthused McCarthy. “If he doesn’t end up being outstanding for Arsenal I’ll be very surprised. Thanks to Arsene (Wenger) for lending him to us because he’s done us a right turn.” Asked if he felt Maitland-Niles – who just has ‘Niles’ on the back of his No.7 shirt – was heading for the very top, McCarthy replied: “Absolutely. He looks like a slight lad, but he gets about and does all the jobs that wingers don’t traditionally do; tracking back with the full-back and getting his foot in. “He’s got real quality and he’s a lovely kid too, he really is smashing. We’re blessed that we’ve got him actually.”

Mick McCarthy knew.
Kid’s really come on. Having been on his case last year, I think he’s about to explode

Fixed the link for you Dules.
Those penalty kicks are hilarious 😆
Remember seeing that clip at the time and the one when he did go for the dink in I think a pre-season game so when he stepped up the other day I was thinking "I hope the keeper has seen that clip about the dink down the middle."
Chambers should become a commentator, or start a podcast.

I dunno how it didn't occur to me until today. AMN is basically a Lauren regen. Even the penalty taking.
More of a baller. There aren't many better technicians in the squad.
I can see the lauren comparisons in that he's a midfielder reluctantly converted to fullback. AMN is much quicker, whereas ralph was hard as nails and a better passer, although ains is making strides with his pasaing
The Lauren comparison is pretty apt. I think AMN have the potential to surpass our legend, mainly because he's much better technically.
Just hope he holds up mentally and improve his crossing because he gets into such good position
Nah Lauren was very different, much tougher, more nous. Ainsley is very much a modern Arsenal player, can see the academy all over him.
Not sure I get the Lauren and AMN comparisons. In terms of personality/attitude/toughness/aggression you couldn’t find more opposite players.
if they were your friends it's AMN for chill and Lauren for a scrap.

Agree. Lauren is probably one of the most underrated Arsenal players and in terms of personality the polar opposite of AMN.
Quite the week for thiss lad. From having 1 foot out the door, to potentially being first choice right back if heccy leaves. Hopefully by the time we switch to back 4, ains will be even more polished as a defender
If Bellerin leaves need to make sure we tie him down to a new deal. His new agent I believe doesn't have the best of relations with the club...
