I'd say he'd get injured a lot more in the PL at his age. The leagues not as rough as it was but there are still enough grunts who'll want to kick him to prove a point that he'll have a rough time.

With Messi you have to wonder if his heart is in it anymore. Making a move at 33, when you've won everything there is to win in club football over and over, to a club where things are harder and less glamorous is not for everyone. He's already jumping ship at Barca because they look like they won't be competitive for the first time in his life. Being stuck with an unmotivated, old player on £100 million wages annually is the sort of deal that could effectively end a non-petrol club. I think PSG and City are the only ones in the world who could possibly afford to take that chance.

Of course we have no chance to sign him. Duh. Our best chance to sign him was in 2003, spoilt purely by our refusal to buy his parents a house 😆

Have to admire how fast Chelsea sign and announce new players. By the time we announce Gabriel the hype is well and truly dead.

I don't know about that - the problem with Barcelona isn't just that they've been uncompetitive since 2015. It's around the fact that the club is a political entity in every sense and the responsibility of that relationship has fallen on players. The likes of Puyol, Xavi were aware of their off field responsibilities as much as their on field responsibility.

It strikes me that the subsequent generation of Messi/Pique/Alba don't necessarily enjoy this. I think Messi would prefer to be at a club that has an established system in place where he can slot in as opposed be the one doing the heavy lifting for both club and country.

It is not underrating him, I think City would be favourites for the CL with him!

It is just that the up and down nature of the league is hard for every player, he would be no different.

He would still be the best player on the park, and just the excitement factor it would bring, would simply be sensational.

Messi at 29 for example coming into the premier league made more sense than now for me. The fact that he might leave Barcelona, without even a send off is just shocking. He may as well stay and retire at Barca.

Unfortunately he does look like he is set on moving.

Brighton have categorically refused all transfer inquiries for center back Ben White and are about to tie him down to a new long term contract.

Maybe refusing 30 million or so right now will pay off handsomely in a year or two if Ben White is as good as the hype suggests.
