Normally plays as a deep lying midfielder. Decent defensively, good passer of the ball and very adept at ball progression.

Not really. I mean Messi sure but if you gave me a choice between Thiago and Partey I'd be taking the latter. The question is whether we can get that deal done or not.

The guy was still by a distance the best player in La Liga. Now he will come to City and find a talented, hardworking squad that removes maybe a quarter of his previous workload. This move would actually be a smart self-preservation plan

He's 33 and won't dominate for that long, we won't challenge anyway for 1-2 season for sure, maybe more ... so yeah, it would be fun to watch him. If he was younger then it would be a no, beacuse make no mistake about it he will kill the PL.

Messi wage is higher per year than 16 out of 20 premier league clubs.

From a purely sporting view he will be great for someone, but only the state owned and petro-clubs can even think about that deal.
