Not really that controversial imo, for teams like this the question isn't to just put in the best player (because it's not always possible) but to put in the player where the drop to #2 in his position is the greatest. I'd still have Henry ahead but it could be argued that the difference between Vieira and other midfielders we've had is the greatest gap
All Time Arsenal XI (with a twist!)
True. That gap was made quite evident when I was mulling the midfield. We're a little light on LBs too, though Monreal was a great servant for the club.
@[deleted], think Campbell and Sanchez on the left side is a bit suspect no? Sanchez would get an absolute bollocking for goal hanging. Swap his position with Aubamayeng and I think that's a solid team.
Meh, what are you going to do when we've only had two worthwhile LBs (Cole and Monreal) in the past 30 years?

It’s got K’nuuuu in it. I’m good with it.
-----------Lehmann
Lauren--Campbell--Toure--Monreal
-----Gilberto---Ramsey-
Ljungberg--Bergkamp---Aubameyang
------------Henry
Maybe a silly formation but couldn't have Pires or Overmars and wanted Aubameyang. Essentially the Invincibles side plus others due to nationality. Ljungberg and Ramsey over other options who I couldn't pick due to the necessity of picking Monreal. Really wanted Seaman who is one my all time favourite players but made CB too hard. This is based on players I've watched so couldn't pick Brady etc.

Very controversial here, but I think a tighter call (than Cesc vs Cazorla) is Viera vs Henry.
Lehmann
Toure - Mertesacker - Campbell
Gilberto
Ljungberg - Viera - Fabregas - Sanchez
Bergkamp
Aubameyang
Double German fun there sorry MistaT.

You could have Henry and Auba interchanging there too - Henry loved being out on the left then smashing inside.

Another option that can work.
This would be so much easier if we’d signed Koulibaly
The teams pretty much pick themselves, main contention being between Vieira and Henry. Strong defence/leadership vs an unstoppable attack.
