Not much to do about that one. I want to have Fabregas or Cazorla in for Ramsey, but then I'd have to do something like this:

Aubameyang never plays striker for us, so he can take Snakey Sanchez's place. 

I have gone for a more modern line-up, with Bergkamp playing the Firmino role without the mug fit for a henchman. Brady I have only seen in Arsenal and Serie A highlight videos, but he seemed a gem. Perfect midfield balance. Some big omissions but happy.

The reason I put O'Leary in for Campbell is because Monreal and Fabregas can't play together, Claude.

Ha. Fixed I hope. Put Ramsey in place of Fabregas. The defense is tough because it’s all Englishmen and Frenchmen for the most part. The guy who can help is Ljungberg, but I think even though he played on a better team he wasn’t quite the player Sanchez was. Sanchez was a beast who suffered under Kroenke. Probbaly our biggest missed opportunity in the last decade

I only include players from the Double season onwards:

GK: Lehmann a relatively easy choice, you can argue Seaman is a better keeper but his nationality is much more valuable.

LB: Nacho Monreal is my reluctant selection here, I don't think he is our best left back in this period by any stretch, and this selection also slightly weakens my midfield. However with the rules in place this was my only choice as I can't use an Englishman here because the CB1 spot would be decimated, and I cannot in good conscience pick Koscielny.

CB1: Tony Adams is the choice here, the left back spot comprimised in order to get him in. Sol Campbell a viable alternative but you can't go wrong with Adams.

CB2: Toure an easy selection, great nationality and a great performer for us in some of our best ever sides.

RB: Lauren another no-brainer.

LM: Alexis Sanchez. I considered several players here, Overmars the strongest but even Rosicky and Hleb but looking at pure numbers Sanchez is the easy choice for three productive seasons out on the left.

CM1: Patrick Vieira is one of our best ever players but doesn't get in the team on his own merits, but the fact that it's easier to find eligible strikers. Ramsey was the closest out of anyone to get in the side, what pushed it the other way for me was that PEA on his day is world class, Ramsey just the tier below.

CM2: Gilberto Silva. Fabregas the better player but Gilberto is not a bad pick.

RM: Ljungberg. 

FW1: Dennis Bergkamp almost lost his eligibility to Overmars but hangs in tough and gets the nod.

FW2: Aubameyang is not exactly the first name of the team sheet but but the value of his nationality can't be denied. My apologies to Thierry and Ian Wright.

Although I do wonder where is big Oleg Luzhny on there? Also shout out to Chris Wreh. Boa Morte was one of those weird cases where pretty much forgettable for us and then went on to be a quality player for Fulham for years.

41212. Almost put Hleb in there instead of Ramsey, but longevity and honors put the Welshman in front. Not sure this is my final draft. It could be a bit more cohesive vertically and have more pace out wide.

Considered Ozil but wanted more goals in my team. Plus needed the BFG at the back if I was going to play 3 at the back with the other French and Englishmen ruled out by Thierry and Campbell. Reckon Mert would be solid enough surrounded by the pace of Toure and Campbell around him.

That then saves me the headache of LB and picking between Cole/Monreal or Campbell/Fabregas/Cazorla.

Thought hard about Silvinho considering I really wanted Campbell and Fabregas but then decided that Gilberto would be more useful for keeping things tight at the back for me and be able to drop back into the back line if need be.

Ljungberg for his nationality and connection with Bergkamp. Henry is the first name on the teamsheet. Sanchez because I'd rather Bergkamp in the hole and Sanchez wide rather than Overmars on the left and Sanchez in the hole. Plus, Sanchez in the hole might be wasting Ljungberg's running and positioning.

Edit: Dules, you can't have Monreal and Fabregas in the same team.

Edit: Thinking about it some more and realising Lehmann took one German spot (and there is no way I'd drop him for anyone other than Seaman, who I can't pick because of Campbell), I will have to drop Mert. After some thought I realised I almosy forgot about Vermaelen who actually may have been a better choice anyways as LCB and ideal in a high line with both Campbell and Toure. Corrected my team now.
