This is a great thread by Swiss Ramble that explains financial situation at each big club prior to Covid-19. Our incredible cash advantage is gone BTW.
I'm trying to resist the urge to go on another rant about a wasted decade and nothing to show for what AW considered to be his best work for the club.
It should be noted that we'd already 'lost' about 100m from our Cash Reserves over the past 5 seasons re our poor transfers/wages, failing to adapt our financial model to the changes in the market for about the 3rd or 4th time, and becoming a bloated organisation after a decade in the comfort zone.
Whilst no one could predict COVID it has highlighted the fallacy of looking to build/retain Cash Reserves with no plan in place. After 15+ years of the stadium project we are effectively back to ground zero. Yes we will generate better match day revenues than most when attendances return, but available disposable income will drop and our conservative financial model will not enable us to use that revenue to our best advantage.
KSE should be looking to take advantage in a deflated market, & my hope is they are holding off to be sure the COVID impact is finished and football will return to 'normal' this season.
