I can see the argument for Partey and Coutinho. I can see the argument for a wide player on the left. But I don't see the argument for Willian when we have Pepe on the right already.

Partey is a key signing. Do that ASAP then potential joiners will be more enthused

Okay. So it’s £300 full of incentives. 3 years comes out to a TCO of £45m (at most, and most likely 2/3 that) for one of the top 5-8 strikers in Europe. I’ll take that. If we replace Lacazette well, eg Edouard, then the frontline has a nice balance of skills and age profiles.

To be honest in terms of respective performances, quality and squad balance is probably an upgrade anyway. The Laca money would just be a bonus.

That is the important thing, if we are going to offer him mega money keep the base salary as low as we can and then heavily incentivize the deal. This is what we should be doing on all our contracts, we wouldn't have that as much problems moving on players if we did!

If we could sell him and Guendouzi, then it will really open up funds and space.

We need to address the midfield, and this will give us the funds to do it.

Correct.

We have got to take care of our players, before splashing the cash on outsiders.

With the Coutinho transfer, I am really hesitant now, because if he comes, it seems like he will play in front of a midfield two.

We need to ensure we win the midfield battle consistently, and I don’t think he will help us dictate either.

He will score a few screamers, but is that enough?

Its just kicking the can down the road though, you'll need to spend the money on a Willian replacement next summer and you'll be paying a 33 year old a big wage on top of it.

I hope Saka and Martinelli are good enough as our two only left side options in one year so we wouldn't need to sign a Willian replacement. This is also why Coutinho for one year makes more sense than Willian for three.
