Yeah. The guy is quality. He reads the game well, passes beautifully and works his socks off.
He could be faster but I think he will learn to to beat his opponents with speed of passing and pitch vision.

Mirror: Arsenal are the first club to make formal contact with Joelson Fernandes (17 year old) agent after he rejected a new contract at Sporting. Arsenal willing for send a young player to sporting on loan to smoothen the deal.

Hopefully tet doesnt fetishize ball playing CBs too much. Stones seems like damaged goods, but i give the rumor some credence given artetas history with him

Surprised that Stones is only 26. I still think he's a good player but error prone and coming here won't help him (or us).

It’s not about fetisihising. It’s about implementing a system. There’s a reason that Holding and Sokratis are frozen out. They aren’t creating chances like the one Aubameyang shot straight at the keeper; and they aren’t launching moves like the one Tierney started that led to our first goal. Total football requires that all players are able to disable opponents with good passing. If your teams is filled with Kolasinaces who can only pass in fear, then you can never push through presses and pass through the lines.

Your defenders need to be able to defend too though. Its all well and good pulling out a hollywood ball every now and then but if its followed by getting beaten one on one, giving away penalties and losing your man constantly then you are more of a problem than a benefit.

There are increasingly defenders who can do both. They are rare and expensive. You also need to support them with a really good two-way defensive midfielder. This is why Pep prized DMs like Fernandinho and Busquets even when he didn't have perfect two-way defenders.

Yeah, you've got to commit to whatever it is you're trying to do.

I wouldn't touch Stones with a barge pole myself and this seems largely a 2+2 rumour, but it would be comforting to know that he'd be someone Arteta knows.

I'd have liked Stones if he wasn't so injury prone, think many of his errors comes from never playing football continously for a decent amount of time.

Stones has a lot of potential but you have to wonder whether we can get anything useful out of him if Guardiola couldn't despite pouring years into his development. It's not like he has lacked chances or good management at City. And he seems terribly injury prone on top of it, which arguably was the one thing that held back every Arsenal side between 2008 and 2018, much more than a lack of starting quality. I'm really not keen on going back to that. We already have question marks hanging over Martinelli, Tierney, Saliba and a few others.

2008 is right. Once we lost Eduardo to that leg blow and Rosicky went down simultaneously, we were desperate. Losing all our DMs didn't help but those injuries kickstarted our era of woe.
