I would have taken him but if Saka is going to be playing further forward and we want to give the likes of Nelson and Marti good game time I don't really see the point.

Depends on the greater need at the time.
Fraser is primarily an assist provider rather than a goal scorer. As such he may fit if we retained PEA rather than Laca, but if it was the other way around and we were looking to replace PEA then the priority should be goals.

Get rid of Luiz, Sokratis, Ozil, Elneny, Torreira, Kolasinac, Mkhitaryan, Lacazette and even Aubameyang if the money is right. Don’t take on Cedric, Mari or Ceballos

Focus on getting hungry and physically and technically adept players

Partey, Edouard, Disasi, Gabriel, Camara or Gueye, Sabitzer, Traore, Zaha, and the likes

If we could do it on a cheap, I would take Ceballos. He's hard working and technical. You get a Partey and that puts you one player away from a midfield.

I see you still have confidence in Xhaka and Mustafi though

Partey and Ceballos would make an excellent summer for the midfield. The third player, whether it's Willock, Torreira, Xhaka or Douzi, would probably play better than he's doing now as well.

I'm not sure about Ceballos. Cheap isn't really cheap and I'd hate to be stuck with this guy if this is as good as it gets. Ideally we'd find a top creative talent, otherwise just hope Willock and/or ESR can step up.

This guy is levels above Willock though. He works hard, is good in close spaces and can pass. If we lose the ball, Ceballos will be the guy tracking back to win it. He has the kind of attitude we want in midfield. Willock is maybe 2 seasons away from the starter we want him to be

I don't think that's a good enough reason to keep him though. I mean he might be tracking back but let's face it the opposition could jog backwards and still pull away from him!

If he can replicate a couple of his best performances consistently from now to the end of the season then maybe he'd be a solid addition, but he has enough bad traits and performances to make me nervous. Plus, I actually don't think he wants to stay.

If we can't do Upamecano, Partey & Jovic as our new spine, then how about Disasi/Sarr, Sangare/Roca & Edouard/Dembele?
I'd also like Aouar and even Depay but I doubt we can afford them.

I think there is going to be an opportunity to do some good business over the next 2-3 transfer windows as the post-COVID financial reality starts to bite. However I also fear that we will lack the appetite and will look the gift horse in the mouth so to speak. We've spurned a number of opportunities in recent times prior to the TV revenues really kicking up, and I fear we will continue to do so.

Yep. Our most tenacious midfielder and a pretty all rounder. For 20m e.g. it's a no brainer. They have Valverde coming through so he has no place there too.

They also have too many attacking mids and at least 2 is surplus to requirement. So if we can get Ceballos + Isco/Asensio (think Jovic is out of range) for Auba we should do it.

He's a dawdler though, like our other midfielders. It may be that he has no-one to combine with, but there have been many occasions he's chosen to dribble when a quicker route to goal is a forward pass. Our propensity to either completely ignore or mis-hit an early ball is a top 3 bug bear, made worse by the fact that auba makes fantastic runs

My concern with Ceballos is the lack of pace/acceleration off the ball in tracking back - not just him but all our CMs.

We have to partner him with someone athletic like Partey. Yesterday midfield was a disaster because ignoring how poor Willock is, both Guendouzi and Ceballos get suck into the ball too much. They are both overly excited and less tactically sound
