I imagine there will be limited transfer action until next season is set in stone, ie clubs know length of season and amount of both TV and match day revenue. Then people can really execute on transfers.

The opening this leaves is for a club with sufficient financial wiggle room to make a deal early. Everybody is hurting right now. And there are certain clubs whose business models are heavily weighted towards certainty of transfer revenue - eg, Ajax, Leipzig, Lille, Rennes, Lyon, etc. these are the types of clubs that negotiating early transfer with might be beneficial to both parties.

Leipzig don't fit in that category. Any player that leaves them does so against their will, they have no need for transfer money at all.

You’re absolutely right, Jones. Put them in by mistake. They along with the clubs owned by nations and oligarchs will be fine. The teams without balance sheets. But I think the rest feel fine.

Rumours of an Auba - Icardi swap deal.

Add a Laca - Partey and Mkhi - Under swap deal to that. Not a penny spent and effectively strengthened.

Going from Auba to Icardi would be a downgrade on the pitch and then you bring along all his off field problems.

He's not coming here. I don't think you people appreciate the situation we're in. If we miss out on Champions League again we'll have been out of the competition for half a decade before we have another chance to get back in. We're bad in Europe's second division and we're bad in Premier League. Icardi is not going to come here. Jovic is not going to come. Cavani is not going to come (not that anyone wanted him). Isak is 20 and just getting started after some bumpy years at another underperforming top club where he didn't get a fair crack. In a year or two he can have his pick in Europe. Why would he choose Arsenal? Is there a single good reason?

The only way we'll replace Aubameyang with another top class player in our current state is if we develop one ourselves. Y'all better hope Martinelli and Nketiah turn out alright, otherwise we'll finish behind Everton without Auba. I've never looked less forward to a transfer window in my entire life.

Wenger have saved the biggest cash reserves for us in the past 2 decades the premier league has ever seen. I am not sure if Emery has spent it all, but if we still have cash reserves this is one in a lifetime chance for us to splash it on as many young talents as possible. There are tons of clubs dying to sell at much cheaper price because they are struggling to stay affload.

Not talking about the established clubs stars like Jovic but more of people like Genk's Jonathan David etc. But even Atleti need to sell their stars because of the current situation.

Exactly, Clrnc, of we get clarity soon on TV deals and get permission for fans to be in stadiums by January, I think we can be at such an advantage relative to 2nd tier clubs that we should just raid them the way that City raids us

As for big players not coming, I’m not convinced. You need to sell a vision. Raul is well-connected and won us one of the hottest transfer races last summer.

Our match day income represents about a 1/4 of our total income at around 90m. That will eat up most of not all of whatever is left of our cash reserves. This also ignores that our wage bill was already unsustainable for a club not operating in the CL. Going on any sort of spending spree is highly unlikely without player sales.

Lots of talk we are seriously in for Gerson. Can’t say I’ve seen much of him, and by all accounts he had an underwhelming spell in Italy but he’s supposedly very talented

Watched him for Roma and he was absolutely crap as a winger.

Apparently he has become a DM/CM now? Not sure how good he is these days.

We missed out big time on Bruno Guimares. Had a blinding start for Lyon and absolutely bossed the midfield against Juve.
