Not sure who those people are but his talent was obvious for me.. Time will tell with Nelson but I just don't see it, especially with the talent we have in those areas.. I wouldn't be adverse to keeping him for now as he provides something different but if selling Nelson is the answer to bringing in the midfielders we need then I am all for it.

Nope. Totally different scenarios. Just see the old thread links in the Gnabry thread people dig out few months ago.

Difference is Gnabry was fully established as first team player before he had massive injuries. Nelson has never had that and has regressed massively compared to his peers. Go have a look at the youth thread where youth watchers was hyping him and Sancho up as special talents.

I won't sell him either but it's imperative we loan him to aid his development. Selling him won't get us any decent fee because we sucked at market games

There are players out there, if no Aouar, go for Buendía. If no Partey, go for Soumare, or Diallo.

There is talk of Zinchenko.

The midfield can’t progress the football at all at the moment. We also cant drive forward from deep whatsoever.

There are players, and I’m sure we will see action.

I disagree with this approach.
Someone jokingly built a team of 10 largely average center backs. This team has too many average. All our efforts should be focused on bringing in super high quality players. The average players we keep can be used as cement.

Look at the team. Who would get into Liverpool or City first 11 in the next 1-2 years?

If it's part of an informed decision, if Arteta and the club think that this is as good as it gets for Nelson and we'll get good value, then sure, trade up.

If it's because we can't sell the ones we actually want rid of and it's out of desperation for cash, then no, I don't think desperate decisions are ever a good idea. I don't think it's smart to sell someone for half the price they might be worth after a good loan, or worse yet, someone who can actually be a top player for us down the line. If you're desperate, you'd be better off accepting 5m less for Torreira in a cut price deal.

Young players are not the ones to cash in on prematurely, huge potential downside to very little upside.

Big teams lose players like that, its part and parcel. Are Arsenal fans so mentally crippled by Gnabry doing well elsewhere that we're now afraid to swap Nelson for ready made players like Partey and Aouar, that was the question after all.

Hey, I agree with you 100%. I would rather take the approach of getting in top quality.

But if we are approaching deadline day, I want to us to take a step forward, than continue with this squad, who we know for sure are not good enough.

At this point, who is out there that wouldn't just be more squad dross that Arteta can't really rely on? I genuinely don't know. vdB and Aouar were the big moves, and if we've fucked up both of them, it's pretty much unforgivable. What are the alternatives to Partey? I'm completely unconvinced by any of the other names I've seen. We aren't getting Ndidi off Leicester if we can't get Partey.

We need more advanced midfielders. Buendía, Trossard (force Brighton’s hand) etc

Partey should be a must now, but I’m not convinced by Edu, after this mess up with Aouar.

There are still players who can help, but we need to move at a pace which we haven’t done for years.

At this point, the only way to cap our perfect window is to buy Raya for 20m and loan him back to Brentford
