Been reading his defensive numbers/actions for this season are the best of any current AFC player & he rates at #7 in the PL.
The closest AFC player to him is Chambers who is not in the top 20, and then Kola(?) who is 40+.

Brilliant. Another injured loan signing. Perhaps he might be available for the last game or two of the season when it's too late.

Are we still that cut up over Luiz Suarez that we're going to keep trying to sign players with that surname, or variants of it?

So many Arsenal fans angry over a loan signing. A right back with PL and international experience to boot. Most of those moaning now are the same fans that were screaming about cover at RB a couple of months back because Maitland-Niles was perceived as trash in the position.

Cedric was a very good player around that time. I have been surprised at his struggles in the past couple of seasons, and haven't really followed what's been going wrong for him, but in terms of his attributes, he's fundamentally a good player.

He’s a backup RB, who cost £3m. Roughly what Ozil cost over the last two months. I don’t know what you’re complaining about.

As I said I don't particularly want him, but you're absolutely right. I can't imagine being that mad about a loan signing. Even if he doesn't contribute with anything it's at worst pointless, it's not like it does much damage to the club.

I think he’s been struggling with injuries over the last 2 years so might have something to do with that. He was indeed good during that year and did well to be a starter for Portugal at RB considering the competition. They are spoilt for choice in the position he plays, with Ricardo Pereira, Cancelo and Semedo all in contention.

So many arsenal fans believe all the over negative bile in the media. And just fume at the club constantly. They end up being the opposite of a fan.

It must be terrible for their mental health having all the endless negativity in their lives. You think they'd find a new hobby to and something positive instead.

TBH I don't think we'll know anything for sure until we see what Arteta's plans are next summer.
Key point IMO is Soares frees up both Saka and AMN to be able to be assessed in their 'normal/preferred' positions, and Mari gives us tactical flexibility to use different shapes and roles in midfield, with or without Xhaka and/or Ozil.
We may see a different shape & roles in midfield for Home v Away games.

We've signed a guy at his lowest valuation with no long term commitment in a position where our primary player is coming back from a long-term injury and we have all kinds of immediate injury worries in defense. Sorry to this man, I don't know this man, but I support this signing.

He'll still cost us a couple of millions in wages and other fees, plus whatever the transfer fee was (I've seen £5 million reported by some and £1 million reported by others). Someone should investigate Raul's bank accounts.

All the more reason to sign someone available surely. Full back cover would have been handy yesterday when Saka got injured.

Can we hire the bald guy that did the business for AC Milan @2009-2011? He snatched Huntelaar and Ibra at crazy prices. For sure he would do better than our current guys.

Ornstein clarified his earlier £5m comment: what he meant was it was worth _£5m to Southampton in terms of the loan fee, which was somewhere around 800k, and also in wages saved and in saved bonuses.
