Ornstein clarified his earlier £5m comment: what he meant was it was worth £5m to Southampton in terms of the loan fee, which was somewhere around 800k, and also in wages saved and in saved bonuses.
If we are covering all his wages, the deal will cost us almost 5m too. We probably wont be paying bonuses I guess since he will hardly play after he is back from injury.

People will moan if we don't even bring in any cover so 10m is nothing in the grand scheme of things but the figures are around there if you include wages.
Agree. Such an irresponsible post from Orbinho. We need a central defender given that we lost our best central defender to injury, Mustafi appeared injured, and Mav is the biggest flop since Wild Wild West. Not singing a central defender would’ve been a dereliction of duty. But even worse would’ve been signing a long term deal with a sub-optimal defender like Chris Smalling or one of the other defenders regularly suggested by papers and bloggers. So a short term high beta deal works.
I know nothing about Soares. Maybe we just want to manage fullback health. Again, based on our experience last year where we solved a defensive crisis with Suarez, this seems prudent.
