I didn't want this signing because I think AMN and Bellerin should be our options at RB, but if AMN is considered a midfielder then backup RB is a position I'd like to spend as little as possible on.

I think we are lining up to have a busy & significant summer.
I don't think we will see extra funds being made available but I do expect to see the budget supplemented by a number of sales to raise additional revenues to make sure we have the finances to secure our targets, even if they may not be elite level.
CL participation being the potential wild card.

How does this help though if he's always injured, and shit whenever he plays to boot? As a further upside he's 29 this year too.

Thought I'd read that he's only injured now as a result of being played into the ground(?), and it's only a couple of weeks.
The Saints fans are saying that he doesn't have a decent cross, but he's otherwise serviceable with decent pace and defence.
He's possibly a good back-up option which is all we want atm until we know how Bellerin pulls up after his long term injury.

The Saints fans I've seen are very happy that they found someone to take him again. He's been a bobbins signing for them.

That's what makes it even more maddening. How is he a good backup if he's not going to be able to play until mid or late March, and won't be match fit at that point? Virtually anyone else would have been a more sensible short-term solution, and as a longterm this is obviously a bad joke.

It feels like someone did an agent a favour here.

He's not going to block Bellerin and he's not going to block any move if we need a replacement in the summer,
and we still have 3 comps to play for.

So he will be back in training in 2 weeks and can be back on the pitch in 3-4 weeks.

Meh, I'm struggling to get upset (or excited) about a backup right back signing on a cheap loan/free transfer.

We haven't had a regular RB for 2 years. It's about time we got some back up in. AmN is clearly not happy filling in their long term.

If we were city we could throw 40m at a RB to compete with bellers. Unfortunately that's probably not the best use of our annual transfer budget. Loan/ free transfer does kinda make sense. A lot more sense than watching Mustafi fill in at RB.

Deffo under for me. There are potentially only 25 or so games left in the season if we get to every final we can reach.Even assuming he starts every game, which he won't, the guy is injured until March. Obviously this is predicated on my assumption that we shouldn't, and will not, sign this dude permanently in the summer. At least I hope not.

A guy who can get forward and has decent pace. Decent touch as well.

If fit, it will interesting to see what he can do.

Weird weird signing and for a total cost of 5m (loan fee, wages, bonuses included), not really buying into this deal.

He is solid and a 6/10 player most of the time I have seen him but that's all. Surprised he said we wanted to sign him few years ago
