Biggest game of our season and of his career and he gives us a win.
Well done sir.

This hopefully gives the club a bit of impetus to back his plans this summer.
Imagine Partey and roca in that midfield today next to Ceballos............we would have run them ragged.
One hell of a summer coming up!
Massive credit for his in game management today. We looked fucked after 20 minutes, and that water break (plus the penatly) really changed everything. Not sure how much he changed, but the team looked great from 20 minutes onward.
Seems he has an ability for getting the team up and well set for big matches. Fuck, after half a season he probably has many wins vs the "Top 4" as Wenger did in his last ten years.
The way he's got these players to play out from the back pretty damn confidently and consistently (compare it to under Emery FFS) is impressive.

I think a big part of that is down to Martinez and Luiz. Both of them extremely confident on the ball under pressure.
Leadership is so important and Arteta is a leader, the technical stuff will fall in place around that.

Aye, and the players too. Look at how Auba's been raving about him for instance. The "My manager!!!!" tweet tonight felt like both a celebration and a comment on his preference for Arteta over Emery. It's easy to see why too. He was the sole professional at the club for so long while everyone else was just fucking around, from the manager down to his teammates, and then came Arteta and told them this is not acceptable. If Auba ends up extending it'll basically be solely down to him.
It’s all the more impressive that he’s managed to win the respect of the players despite results not being great, performing being hit and miss and not least the fact that he has no experience.
The cup win will help cement that respect and hopefully he won’t have to work as hard on that side of management next season and focus more on getting us to play some good football.

Players also seem accepting of kicking/letting it out of bounds if its not on. Noticed a few times, particularly between Holding and Bellerin that the build up passing didn't pan out, but neither seemed to fussed. Nice to know that they have confidence in their defending, so that even if it goes out of bounds it doesn't matter much as it's only a throw in.
I'm sure Arteta has helped them accept that.
Yeah, they showed clips against City how quick we are to cover for each other’s mistakes and loose passes. Dani and Granit both come very deep to collect the ball too and both know where they can find a teammate. Under Emery you had maybe one midfielder sort of show for the ball and even then they didn’t really want it.

And also consistency on the plan. In an interview Arteta said he’d be more alarmed if his players chose to abandon the high risk passing from the back in favor of booting it out. He’s reinforcing that he believes in them and that they should stick to the plan. We gave up easily with Emery.
A few folks have complained about the lack of offensive fluidity. The challenges in playing out the back are an indicator of how hard it is to build a grass-based playing style. You see bits and pieces flaring up during the game but it needs to be joined up more consistently. More drills, more games, better technicians, and we will get there. It’s faster to coach defensive formations as long as players are fit

Yep, the soft stuff matters way more than what you know and 1 TB hard drive worth of clips won't teach you how to deal with people. Sometimes it's a bit depressing that personality and image projection matters more than cold hard knowledge but that's just how it is.
I don't think Arteta is a suit or anything but he knows how things work - from managing the fans expectations, calling out the board and solving the dressing room atmosphere. That's just as important as working out whether you want to play 3-4-3 or 4-3-3.
During the celebrations Arteta told the club doctor Gary O’Driscoll: “I told you, believe in me”.

Right. Time to live in the Transfer Rumours section for the next two months.
See you there!
Dude, we don’t have two months. League starts in 5 weeks. Community shield is on the 29th of August. These players are probably getting 10 days break.
I think they’re getting 3 weeks off based off what I heard in one of the post match interviews.
But yeah, transfer window work needs to intensify right now.
Lampard's all: "Come on son, let's go. Don't look at them."
